Manfrotto 190CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod

My main objective in obtaining this tripod was to be able to take it hiking/camping. It's lightweight, although, with a good ball head it's not as lightweight as I'd hoped. The adjustable leg lock tension is a plus. The screw for securing ball heads is also an unexpected extra.

When I started off in DSLR photography, I originally got a Giottos carbon-fiber tripod. It was nice and compact when folded, but I ultimately wasn't satisfied with the stability of the legs. Recently, I traded in for this Manfrotto 190CXPro3, and while bulkier, it's much more stable fully-extended.

It basically is everything the specs say it is. However, not having marking on the lower leg section seems like a big miss. (I'm 5'4 and I can't see through my viewfinder with the legs fully extended) Too bad one has to take a light tripod and then put a beast of a head on it if you want to match...

It's lightweight, durable and, most importantly, sturdy. Only thing it's lacking is a hook on the center column, which could help make it sturdier in windy conditions. Plus I wouldn't have to put my backpack on the ground.

I paid a bit more because it is the new model but it is all that I expected. Sturdy and quality details throughout. Easy to deploy. My only gripe is that it does not come with a tripod bag. Not even a cheap one.

I am very happy with the Manfrotto carbon fiber legs so far. I have a great ball head I wanted to re-use and I'm glad there was no ball head included with this purchase. It would have ended up in a drawer.

Well made, solid but not to heavy. Excellent for on the go or studio work. Works well.

Great leg latches that actually give a great deal of confidence when they snap. It is both light and very sturdy. The only negative is that the center column is very difficult to raise and lower when a camera is attached (which is the only time I would use it, right?

I bought this about a year go with the aim of having a smaller, lightweight carbon tripod. After of a year of intermittent use, it's literally falling apart. In the field yesterday I thought it was a bit loose and the top assembly simply pulled right out of the vertical post.
