I purchased the Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod to support my DSLR heavy telephoto zoom lenses, as well as night photography & certain landscape shoots. The construction & configuration is exactly what you would expect from a Manfrotto tri-pod.
I wanted a more substantial tripod for use with my DSLR and new 500mm f/4 lens. The Manfrotto 055 Carbon model I already had felt a little too light for the job when outfitted with my Wimberley 2 gimbal head even though it was fine with a 400mm f/5.6 lens.
I bought this tripod to hold a heavy teleprompter. It surpassed my expectations!
Very Solid and well made piece of kit

Good Footing, Locks In Tight
Sturdy, relatively light, easy to use.
I bought this tripod as an upgrade over an old Bogen aluminum model that i'd been using for years. The 057 is as advertised. Solid, stable and well constructed. I paired it with a Manfrotto 393 head and use it primarily with a Canon 5D Mk. II and Canon 500mm f4 lens combination.
Ok so maybe it isn't as little as it could be - but then this thing is a feast of carbon fibre and magnesium. I wouldn't normally have spent this much on a tripod but a WEX part exchange meant I could upgrade and so picked this tripod.

Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Lightweight, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
I ordered this tripod to hold a telescope for astronomy. I wanted something that would provide stable views at medium/high magnifications while still being easy to carry and transport. It serves the purpose very well.
A real work of art and a tripod that's built to last. Very happy

Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
Must have been 2 different groups that designed this tripod. The CF legs and magnesium spider do meet all the advertising hype. But the center column is definitely not pro calibre. 1. The top plate is extremely large. This interferes with the use of manfrotto 405 and 410 geared heads.
