We compare our second more affordable Core i5 FHD SKU against the pricier Core i7 WQHD SKU to see if it's worth saving some few bucks for less pixels and performance power.
-
+
no CPU or GPU throttling on battery power, excellent keyboard and touchpad, slim design; strong chassis, respectable battery life, easy serviceability, brighter backlight, WWAN support, quiet fans, no PWM
-
-
Unable to maintain maximum rated TUrbo Boost speeds, Narrower color gamut than the WQHD SKU, hinges could be more taut, fingerprint magnet, no USB Type-C, slow charging, soldered RAM, pricey
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (4th Gen) slims down the office laptop with a premium ultrabook design, but that thin profile and lightweight come with some potent performance and great battery life.
-
+
The laptop’s thin and light design is extremely portable, without sacrificing any capabilities.
-
-
It’s missing some ports like Ethernet and a full-size SD card slot.
Durable and long-lasting, but slick and thin, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the business laptop to beat.
-
+
Lightweight for a 14-inch laptop. 2,560-by-1,440 (WQHD+) IPS display. Dual pointing devices. 10 hours of battery life. Durable. Comfortable keyboard. Three-year warranty.
-
-
Lacks USB-C. New docking system. Ethernet requires dongle.
Indeed, since the T460s has lost its predecessor's swappable, extra-capacity battery option, it's hard not to recommend the X1 Carbon as your default choice if you're looking for a 14-inch ThinkPad, or maybe a 14-inch business laptop, period.
-
+
Remarkably thin and light yet sturdy, Splendid keyboard, Crisp 1080p display, Security and manageability features for IT departments
-
-
No USB-C or Ethernet port, No touch screen, MicroSD instead of standard SD card slot
The only thing we can really knock the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon for is its endurance. The battery life is decent, but there are better options out there for longevity such as the Dell XPS 13.
-
+
Gorgeous QHD display, Market-leading keyboard, Lightning quick SSD
-
-
Lack of Ethernet and SD Card slot, Mediocre endurance
It’s Lenovo ‘s most beloved business laptop: the X1 Carbon. The fourth-generation model has been released, and it’s as beautiful as ever, bringing the best aspects of the X1 Carbon line and refining them with updated hardware, a lighter weight, and a thinner body.
The Lenovo X1 Carbon is a serious Ultrabook for the business professional. It also carries a seriously high price tag, especially as you start upgrading components, but in return you get a premium system that's built to last, is every bit as portable as a MacBook Air, and is fast on the draw.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Carbon is definitely a high performing ultrabook which offers great performance and mobility in a thin, light package.

Great design, excellent performance, light weight.

Price may be a consideration for some.
Despite its very light-weight design, you still get some solid components in this ultrabook such as an Intel i5 processor and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. It doesn't have any dedicated video memory which is about the only weakness with this model but you do get a 128GB solid state drive for storage, and also...
The ThinkPad Carbon X1 is an impressive notebook from Lenovo that offers fast battery charging, a keyboard that changes based on what you are doing and is power
Just got a 4th generation unit. very nice packaging and deliveryI miss the normal dock, that I had for years with my T42 and W520. This one has a proprietary onelink dock that sits on the desk. I understand that a thin body, does not allow the dock connector.
No issues whatsoever with this machine during first month of use; I'd have no hesitation making the same purchase decision again based upon my experience with this quick and powerful Lenovo Ultrabook.

Great price, lightweight & Windows 7 OS; very much 'As Advertised'.

I love the SSD, but it IS an Ultrabook; limited onboard storage works for me, but those needing more local apps (in addition to OS & Office) should consider the 128GB SSD capacity before buying this machine.
Great laptop from Lenovo, nice to see the hdmi get added this year. Cons: No thunderbolt/USB C Quality laptop with a premium feel, bit pricey but its worth every penny.
this laptop is seen efficient laptop. Its very modern, sleek, the materials its made out of are premium. Very Easy, need to just plug it in , ON and then connect to WiFi /Data spot , that simple Very clear video on Mac screen and iOS app in normal zoom mode
