The Leica Q is the most affordable full-frame Leica camera to date. Its 24MP sensor is good though not class-leading, and the fixed 28mm F1.7 Summilux lens is superb. The camera is built beautifully and responds rapidly.

Street shooters, photojournalists, event photographers and world travelers who appreciate a well-built camera with good external controls and like the 28mm focal length.
-

Peak action and video shooters, photographers who need ultimate dynamic range flexibility and photographers on a budget.
The Leica Q (Typ 116) is a niche camera, with a full-frame image sensor and a dedicated 28mm lens. It's not for every photographer, but it's fantastic at what it does.

Full-frame image sensor. Sharp, wide aperture lens. 6.7-inch macro mode. Fast autofocus. Large, crisp EVF. Touch-screen display. 1/16,000-sec electronic shutter. 10fps burst shooting. 1080p60 video recording. Includes Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. In-camera Wi-Fi.
-
-
Expensive. No built-in flash. Touch screen focus could be better implemented. Lacks 24fps video option.
Had it been announced by any other camera company in June of 2015, the Leica Q ($4,250) would have been a flagship camera: a compact body, full-frame sensor, optically stabilized and autofocusing 28mm f/1.7 lens, a huge electronic viewfinder and enough processing power to run an Apollo mission.
In the James Bond novels and films, Q is the oft-exasperated purveyor of high-tech gadgets that inevitably help 007 escape impossibly tight spots.

Super fast; gorgeous image quality; good low-light performance; responsive AF; Wi-Fi; touchscreen display; sharp EVF.

Limited video features; pricey; lens cap can inadvertently rotate aperture dial.
Buying a Leica camera is like buying a very expensive watch – it’s a luxury item. Hung around the necks of people who have no idea of photography, it is a status symbol.
The new Q is not cheap. Leica never ever is and while I was hoping for $3500 (I feel that would have been PERFECT and sold a ton of these for Leica), it appears the Q comes in at $4250, about $750 over my “hoped for” price. Yep, $4250. True Leica style ;) I loved my time with the Q.
The Leica Q isn't just great, it blazes a trail forward for the venerable camera maker.
A true object of desire, offering great image quality and fantastic hardware design.

Fantastic handling and control, Excellent image quality, High-quality lens

Price pushes it into a niche, Video capabilities could be better
The Leica Q (Typ 116) offers rapid performance, excellent image quality, and good handling. Considering you are getting a Leica 28mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens with optical image stabilisation, and a 24 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor without an AA filter , the Leica Q offers reasonable value for money,...

Bright f/1.7 Leica lens with OIS, 24-megapixel full-frame sensor with no AA, Extremely sharp even shooting wide-open, 2-year warranty, 1-year accidental cover, Fast autofocus, Touchscreen, Wi-Fi with QR code, Adobe DNG raw format, Dual axis electronic level, Extremely high-resolution EVF
-
-
Some bias towards under-exposing images, saving highlights, Muted colours on default settings, EVF colours more saturated than rear screen, Automatic HDR would be good
Whether you’re a staunch Leica fan, or simply a photography fan, the Q is that rare Leica that will transcend users old and new thanks to its combination of classic and modern features.

Exceptional optical quality and sharpness throughout aperture range, Superb image quality even into high ISO settings, Classic Leica build quality is robust yet luxury, Manual controls
-
-
JPEG standard contrast setting to excess, No tilt-angle screen, Viewfinder eye-sensor a bit slow, Continuous shooting on on/off switch, Fiddly macro/manual focus release, No front grip
I havent drunk the Leica Kool-aid yet, but after a few days, it is a phenomenal camera. I also own a Fuji X-T20, so the immediate comparisons are inevitable. Suffice it to say both cameras are great, but there are nuances to the Leica that are hard to ignore:*The full frame sensor is nice, no doubt...
The Leica Q has been thoroughly reviewed elsewhere so will keep this short. This camera is perhaps the most intuitive, easy-to-use, yet stunningly high-performing piece of kit I've ever used. While it can't replace a full DSLR setup nor has the versatility of interchangeable lenses, it's the camera...

The Leica Q is in my opinion a camera with everything a street shooter ever needed crammed into one camera. The only reason to not buying one has been cost. Ive never thought of it as expensive. Compares to an M-body + 28mm Summilux its down right cheap.
A few years ago I purchased the Leica D-Lux 6 and had great fun with it traveling, hiking and taking it everywhere without lugging about extra lenses. I thought about and read many reviews over the course of the last year about the Q and finally took the plunge. So glad I made the purchase.
This is a good camera. I enjoy to use it. Here's a photo that I took when I just got the Q.
In my hands at the end!!!! After a long trip from America to Italy.... Very nice camera, splendid resolution, incredible 28mm Asph. Some problems about the program non auto (it is my first digital camera!!!) ...
I have watched Leica from afar for the past few years thinking my amateur skill level as a photographer could not justify the hefty price tag. But now that I've gotten fairly serious about this hobby of mine, and to celebrate, a milestone birthday, I took the plunge and purchased the Leica Q (TYP...
Love the way this camera can be used as an all-manual camera but with the available technology of focus peeking and touch screen for instance. Nice size, although with my larger hands the grip option has made the camera perfect.
