Got this to go with new iMac and I like the sleeker size and quieter operation than my prior LaCie that was first generation thunderbolt connector. I have a good experience with my 3 x LaCie Thunderbolt 1 Little Big Disk 2TB for many years. As I moved to the new iMac 27 with Thunderbolt 3, so I have bought 2 x LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3 8TB. There are some points to be mentioned. - The LED is brighter than the old models. It draws the attention.
I needed a extra hard drive for my PS4. I wasn't sure if it would connect to my PS4. So just in case I got the one with the lightning cable. Then I can use it on my Mac. PS4 did see the hard drive and it also saw all 8T. 8)
This has been a great drive so far. Knowing a Seagate drive is built in is comforting as well.
The thunderbolt 3 cable not really good, all others quite good!
I just read all of the negative posts. My story is "really" what is happening, in my opinion. Had 15 LaCie drives in the past. In Santa Rosa, CA fire my house burned down, took my two external LaCie 2d drives and my Mac Book Pro mid 2015. Past 6-years of LaCie 2d, all 15 were great.
So far, the drive is working as advertised. It's fast and allows daisy chaining with other Thuderbolt peripherals. As a bonus,it's also great looking.
Very nice drive fast and quiet
