If you’re looking to spend $1,000 or more on a monitor, reaching for an ultrawide shouldn’t be a tough decision, but which one you choose might be. Samsung, LG, and Dell all have solid offerings, and the only factors that set them apart are price and included features.

  • +

Great color accuracy, Immersive curved screen, Wide, sturdy stand, Extensive menu options

  • -

Priced higher than competitors, Mediocre contrast ratio, Some models may be affected by backlight bleed, Some perplexing menus

Even though the prices of curved monitors are still $1000 and up, we like the category enough to keep covering it. And obviously people are buying them or we wouldn't see new models continue to appear.

  • +

FreeSync • No calibration necessary • Super-accurate • 1900R curve for immersive gameplay

  • -

Middling contrast • Small 55-75Hz FreeSync range • Merely average input lag • Expensive

Looking at the data sheet of the LG 34UC98-W we don’t see anything too out of the ordinary. The 34” display offers an aspect ratio of 21:9, resolution of 3440 x 1440 and curved surface with a radius of 1,900 mm making it more curved than the current standard.

  • +

Chic, sleek and high-quality housing, Very good service, Very extensive OSD, Comprehensive terminal portfolio incl. Thunderbolt 2, Very good image quality, Good color representation

Of all the fun technology that passes across our test bench, nothing brings coworkers to a screeching halt more effectively than an ultrawide monitor. Even among hulking 4K panels and sleek 2-in-1s, the 21:9 LG 34UC98 draws the eyes of all who walk by, and it isn’t hard to see why.

Curved TVs may be a fad you’d forget soon enough, but a curved screen on your desk, connected to your PC, is something that makes more sense.

I have had this monitor for about a week now and just amazed at how beautiful it is. I am a programer so its like having 3 monitors in one and much better then my previous two monitor setup. Amazing color rendition and video editing is so much easier.

Love it. Works great with my MacBook Pro. Make my desk seem bigger since it replaced two other monitors but I need to still use my computer monitor for webex meetings.

Excellent monitor, though expensive. Only minor complaint is the packaging contained moth eggs and I got an outbreak of silk worms after leaving the box in my kitchen for a time.

Lovely screen Neg: Turn off function requires holding for a time and does not feel like button will stand the test of time. 4.5* but had to choose 4 or 5

Bought this monitor 1 year and 20 days ago. Worked great until a week ago when the sound quit. At first I thought it was the video card, but determined it was the monitor itself. Was just looking into getting the sound repaired, when I suddenly heard a loud crack and smoke started coming out of the...

Avoid this product, as you're apparently running the risk of having a $1000 doorstop within less than two years. I paid $970 with tax for this monitor in July of 2016. Last week, it developed a set of horizontal lines across the screen that had nothing to do with input - they appeared on the...

For the price the refresh rate needs to be as high as a TV...120Hz or higher....

If only I had known there was a monitor with Thunderbolt 3 functionality when I purchased this. I'm about a generation behind in monitors despite having the latest in MacBook Pros when I purchased it.
