The 34-inch LG 34UC79G-B, a slightly curved, ultra-wide monitor designed for gameplay, offers plenty of ports and gamer-friendly settings.

AMD FreeSync enabled. Speedy refresh rate. Game-friendly features.

Slightly skewed greens. No speakers. Stingy warranty.
While some may cry for greater resolution, we think the 34UC79G goes far beyond “just fine” the way it is. A lower pixel count means higher framerates which translates to smoother motion and better gaming.

High contrast, Out-of-box accuracy, 144Hz, Excellent blur-reduction, Ghost-free overdrive, panel response, Low input lag, Styling, OSD joystick, Value

None that affect gaming or general use performance
As the window to our digital world, the importance of a good monitor cannot be overstated. A lovingly built gaming rig will be all for naught if the video it produces is rendered as a blurry, tinted mess.
Ultrawide gaming monitors are not quite as common as standard 16:9 monitors, and the LG 34UC79G is one of the few 21:9 monitors in the market that combines a high 144Hz refresh rate with a curved IPS panel.
Ultra-wide displays began to appear in 2014, and the category has grown to encompass many screen sizes (34", 35" and 38" most prominently - with Samsung having just launched a 49" model), resolutions and vendors.

Low brightness and colour accuracy, limited stand adjustments
LG 34UC79G: Ultrawide monitors are generally expensive, but the LG 34UC79G sits at a competitive price point

Native high refresh rate support combined with FreeSync and low input lag for gaming, Excellent static contrast ratio and decent factory setup, Good range of features, connections and gaming extras

Blur Reduction mode shows noticeable strobe cross-talk, Response times not perfect and are limiting at upper end of refresh rate range, Missing side to side swivel from stand
If you've been looking for a monitor that gives you high frames per second and that wraps around your eyes the LG 34UC79G offers all of that in a reasonably priced package. FreeSync is not the main feature but its a nice addition for AMD users.
When I started testing this monitor, I was wondering why volume control of this monitor was set to 100 percent, default playback device was set correctly to “LG ULTRAWIDE” yet there was no sound coming out of this monitor. Turns out, this monitor does not have built in speakers.

Monitor ships in well protected box lined up with styrofoam and wrapped in plastic bags. All required cabling is included - DisplayPort and HDMI, both able to carry video and audio signals. This LG monitor is very wide and easily replaces two 17” monitors placed side-by-side.

One of problems with this monitor is uneven backlight (widely known as screen bleeding). To test for uneven backlight, I have created test image with resolution 2560x1080 and filled it with black color, then displayed this image in fullscreen mode in very dark room with all settings of monitor set...
The panel is perfect but the service of NCIX not ... It's the first time that I order there, and it take them 1 week juste for ship my monitor (I had to call them ..) and it take a other week to arried to my door ... Other place take 3-4 days max with normal shipping.

- IPS display have amazing color !! (my last monitor was a Asus MG248Q TN), - 144hz with Freesync, - 34" Very immersive compared to a 24" 16:9, - 1ms (After test It seem to be more 4-5ms but its realy fast for a IPS display and I have not probleme with it !!)
-
-
- Resulotion is only 2560x1080 but not realy a cons for me you will get use to it and in game this panel is so amasing that you will not notice it :P
Just got this monitor and WOW!!!!..unreal with 144hz and 1ms gaming on it is incredible and with the extra features and the cool design for the price it can't be beat i will never go back to standard monitors. This one is going to last me for a long time.

Style/Design, Features/Settings, Performance, Quality, easy to use
After weeks of searching for a nice curved, 144hz monitor, I decided to buy this one off the shelf at Fry's. The only thing I was afraid of was pixel density, considering it was 34 inches and is 1080p. But holy cow was I incorrect. It is absolutely stunning, and I play about 2 feet from my monitor.

Wanted something big and bright when I started to play with Linux and this big boy came thru. Everything is crisp, well defined, and serves my simple needs. Not my first LG product and probably not my last. Guess you could say a loyal LG fan.
