I own the 1.4 from this company, and I will order this 2X soon. Reason: The 1.4 is tact sharp. The reason photographers here can't get their images sharp is for three reasons. One, even lenses and cameras from the factory must be calibrated to maximize sharpness (go on Youtube to learn how to...

I bought this based on the reviews. However, when i got it home and tried it on both my D90 and D300 is was slow and had a hard time focusing in Auto modes. If I tried to use it with my 55-300mm or my 18-270 it was unable to hunt properly.

Very pleased with this, need a tripod on longer zoom lenses but you do with any long distance lens to prevent camera shake

Very difficult to autofocus even in bright sunlight, I have tried with f1.4, f1.8 and f4 lenses. The manual focus option works but you will need a tripod and the picture is towards the soft side. If you are ok with soft pictures go for it if not do what I am doing .... saving up for a long lens.

Works fine in direct sunlight but on my Nikon 18-300 it did hunt badly. Thought I might get away with it but in the end returned it the same day

Works very well for the intended purpose of expanding the reach of your telephoto lens. I have taken some very nice shots of raptors with this lens coupled to a Nikkor 70-300mm lens.
