I'm not having the "tightness" problem that some other users have expressed. In the first place, the metal hex collars do not affect the handle's tightness at all. The hex collars merely prevent the handles from collapsing down until you're ready to fold them for storage. That's all they do.
I recommend this head for anyone whose needs it would address. In using A D800 which is a big camera with lens attached, though only coming in at half the weight rating for the head), and it is clearly up to the task. The more I use it and get used to it, the more I like it.
I'm happy to finally have an Arca Swiss type quick release on the tripod head. I have those adapters on all my cameras now. I wish this head had more vertical tilt, though. I have had to mount the camera backward when taking moon shots high above the horizon.
On first use, one of the side round angle indicators came off.. The glue that holds this down failed... The Handles like others say do come loose very easily. They have fixed the Arca-Swiss mount.. I'm using a Canon 5d MK III with the L-bracket and this connects firmly and securely.
So far, so good. I really enjoy the feel and versatility of this panhead. It really doesn't take too long to get used to. the handles and the way they collapse are great and handles feel right. I loved it so much, I now own two.
The two handles with the locking nuts come loose all the time. Induro even replaced them shortly after I got the tripod head, but they still come loose. Plus both knobs that lock the head so that it cant pan were stripped within a couple months of use.
While I've read a lot of comments about the handles coming loose, but I didn't have that problem. If you take the time to set the handles in place and tighten, you should be fine. My only recommendation to Induro would have been to design the handles longer, so they stick out further to operate.
Although Chinese made, this is a solid, well-built head that provides clear indexing and flexibility in all directions. Arca Swiss QR is a must for me. I've had no trouble with the folding handles. The only flaw I found is that the leveling bubbles are not accurate or secured very well.
I use this for product photography and panoramas (with nodal rail and L bracket). The head is sturdy and the motions are very fluid. When locked in position it is solid. Other comments state how the bubble levels are not accurate and this is true.
This quite a head for any sturdy tripod. It is truly a 5 way head and does have an Arca-Swiss plate, for the skeptics who have said here that it doesn't. It is everything I was looking for. The collapsible handles are not as much of a pain as some on here complain about.
