one sticks on vertical and horizontal movements and the other doesn't tighten properly at the base and becomes wobbly after short periods of time.Wrote to Indurogear.com support about a week and a half ago, reminded them after a week, and still haven't heard anything from them. BEWARE.
It seems a bit heavy on top of my carbon tripod, but works extremely well and smooth. It will be a MUST every time I decide to chase birds, which can be quite often. At my age the 100-400 lens without using a tripod has become too much for my shoulder.
I have to say that, although gimbals are expensive, this purchase was one of the best purchases I have ever made amongst all of my camera gear. It provides a weightless, seamless, fluid way to maneuver my super-telephoto lens around and track even the fastest of critters out there.
I recently took the GHB2 (attached to an Induro carbon fiber tripod) out for the first time to shoot swans along the Mississippi river. My D810 and Sigma 150-600 sport attached quickly and securely via the Arca plate and clamp and the entire system provided rock-solid stability on uneven ground.
bought this gimbal head b/c I have Induro tripod. used it for bird photos in Bosque del Apache, with Canon 6d and 5diii mated to sigma 150-600, Canon 100-400 w/ and w/o 1.4x tc. also used it on Sirui T-2005X tripod.
Extremely well made gimbal, will take the heavy load of a DSLR with a long lens and makes it feel buttery smooth when panning or tilting. The control knobs can be adjusted for tightness of movement, and it's beautiful to work with.
My interest is backyard bird photography. With my Canon 7d and 100-400 mm lense, I wanted a head that would allow unrestricted movement without any weight. Moving up from a cheap pan-tilt tripod to an Induro tripod and gimbal head was amazing! I'm no longer worried about dropping the camera.
In short, I like this gimbal head. It's quite sturdy, built well. I have an induro tripod and this compliments it well. There's two tiny nagging things about it that I'm trying to get used too.
Outstanding piece of photographic equipment. It is easily every bit as good, if not better, than the equivalent Wimberely head. I would definitely recommend it to anyone seriously interested in purchasing a Gimbal Head for supporting their longer lenses.
I have used a rented Wimberly in the past. I liked it, but looking at the price difference and after reading other reviews I figured I would try the Induro. It's heavy, of course, because it is a solid, well built support platform, but so is the Wimberly.
