HOYA HMC has been my go to for years, and the 1B is on every lens. This filter was for a EF 40/2.8 pancake, and does its job perfectly.
The filter does exactly what a skylight filter is supposed to do and the product is not flawed in any way. That being said the only reason you would need this filter is if and only if you are shooting with film. If you don't shoot with film thats what the white balance is for on your digital camera.
This is one of my favorite filters as I live in California and we have very blue skies and this corrects that tinge.
Use skylight 1B on the lens to protect it from wear and tear of the front element.. Well made.
Only really useful with film. Auto white balance in a DSLR will undo the change in color. The filter is well made and does protect the lens but effect is essentially the same as clear glass for digital applications.
This filter is as advertised. I have many HOYA filters and they have never disappointed.
Best for bright blue skys. Reduces too much blue in photo
I was looking for a pro level filter. This seems to be it.
Offers great protection, allows almost the same amount of light through as without the filter, and adds a nice warming effects to skin tones which saves time in processing images.
This crystal clear filter is perfect for protecting my lens glass. It does cut down on a bluish cast, but the main reason I use it is for protection. The quality is what I expect from Hoya.
