We’re all talking to our gadgets now. It has become commonplace—and somehow not at all weird—to ask your speaker for a weather report, or to command your television to switch on HBO.

  • +

Google Assistant gets a tiny screen that can sit anywhere in your home. Another way to command connected devices like televisions, Rokus, thermostats, and lights. Gorgeous design. Smarter than Alexa and Siri put together. No camera—hallelujah. Seven-inch display dims when the lights are off.

  • -

Does much of the same stuff to control your home and organize your life that your phone does already. Screen is a little too small for use as a kitchen helper. Speaker sounds good for voice, but not great for music. Lacks support for some popular brands in the connected-devices world.

The Google Home Hub is a big idea in a compact package. Bucking the trend of larger and larger smart displays, this latest container for the varied talents of the Google Assistant occupies a smaller footprint than most of its rivals demand.

  • +

Cute style makes for a less-threatening smart display, Google Assistant is as capable as ever, Smart home controls are easily laid-out and convenient, Aggressively priced, No camera should please privacy fans

  • -

Speaker isn't the best for music playback, Absence of a camera may frustrate some

The Google Nest Hub tablet speaker brings Google Assistant to every corner of your home.

  • +

Wide range of device compatibility, Decent speaker built-in, Google Assistant onboard

  • -

No camera, Limited to WiFi devices

“Google’s Nest Hub is a great way to keep tabs on your smart home.”

The small, affordable Google Assistant-powered Nest Hub smart display is functional and convenient, but won't impress anyone with its sound quality.

  • +

Relatively inexpensive., Small footprint., Useful touch screen.

  • -

Weak audio., No camera for video calls.

So, uh, how do you feel about the functionality so far? The touchscreen is only really good for recipes, the smart home dashboard, and a photo frame. The rest of it is the same Google Home functionality you can get with a speaker.

  • +

An amazing screen setup that tunes the brightness and color just right. It fades into the background instead of blasting light into the room like every other display., A great smart home dashboard that any smart home enthusiast should take a look at.

  • -

The "minimum viable product" strategy means lots and lots of basic features are missing. You can't even change the Home Hub settings from the Home Hub., So many things work just well enough to have a "supported!" bullet point, but actually using them in real life is awful.

While I rarely use the Echo Show I have in my kitchen because the device is limited in what it's actually capable of doing, the Nest Hub features direct integration with Google's services and apps...

  • +

Looks great, Display is actually useful, Easy to setup

  • -

There are better sounding smart home speakers, Could be too pricey for some, You can't Cast Netflix

As a digital photo frame and smart home controller, the Google Nest Hub is an affordable device with enough features to keep you happy. It has a nice display, decent speakers, and you can control most features just with your voice.

  • +

Simple setup, Easy to use, No learning curve if you’re already used to using “Hey Google”

  • -

I enjoy the Google Assistant. I don’t do life-changing things with it, but it does make life easier. That made me excited for the . It’s Google Home with a display. We knew it was coming and got to see it at the in October last year.

  • +

Small footprint, fits anywhere, Both touch screen and voice controlled, Chromecast built-in, Plays Google Photos Live Albums

  • -

Cannot video chat, Display might be to small for some, Must stay plugged in

Google started talking about Assistant-powered smart displays earlier this year, but it let Lenovo and JBL roll out the first products. Google unveiled its Assistant display alongside the new Pixel phones, and it's not just the same guts in a new shell.

  • +

DisplayWhile lower resolution, the display has excellent viewing angles, brightness, and a light sensor that adjusts the color throughout the day., Form factorThe Nest Hub is compact and easy to fit in your space.

  • -

SpeakerThe speaker is good enough for spoken words but not for music., Voice controlThere's no button to start voice commands—you have to use the hotword every time., CameraThere's no camera, so video chat is out of the question.

My Google Nest Hub was easy to setup and to work with other products such as my Konnected alarm system, my Gosund smart switches and my Teckin smart sockets. I have even used one of my smart sockets to run my yard lights. Setting up time routines bin the Nest has been a breeze.

  • +

Ease of setup, great value, very nice look.

There are many features that I love about the Home Hub, but a few that I especially like are: 1) We have it in our bedroom and I like that on the display each morning are the things that are on my phone calendar so I know what I have going on before I even step out of bed, 2) I like that it syncs...

After a year of use...I can't imagine not having it. I use it to cook (pull up recipes), the family uses it to dance to, we all enjoy the photos all day.

It is a pretty neat device. I like that it interacts with my Nest cameras and Chromecast TVs allowing me to stream the nest cameras on the big TV screen. The Hubs small screen size is annoying an is only good for viewing from close to the screen. Still learning other capabilities.

I truly enjoy using this device. It allows me to create a customized photo album so that I am able to enjoy travel pics that I would only otherwise enjoy if I was perusing through my phone. I also love being able to use the Google Assistant to complete or assist with certain tasks.

I really love google home and the hub is awesome. I didnt give it 5 stars because it still struggles with certain things like finding a specific recipe. I was very specific with it and asked for a certain recipe, google on the web got it first try.

These things are amazing! I love the integration of google photos on it so it can constantly change it like the digital picture frames. Wish it had a camera for Skype tbh and wish it was more compatible with iPhones for airplay music and what not #sweepstakes
