I use this tripod mainly in my studio. It is easy to set up and break down I share my studio with another artist. I shoot stills and video of art and art installations so I needed a tripod that is truly solid (w/minimal vibration), carries a little weight, is tall and easy to set-up and break down...
I use this tripod primarily for photography (including time lapse, wildlife, birds, and macro) and for some videography. It is easy and quick to deploy and pack for transport - the section grips work nicely.
I prefer to use tripods with 3 or 4 sections because I have found them to be more stable, with fewer vibrations, than 5 or 6 section tripods. However, I needed something to pack in a carry-on, yet be able to handle a heavy body and long lens.
It is sturdy and it support my Nikon 600mm f4 lens well.
Purchased this with the 75mm bowl adapter for use with a Miller Compass 25 video head. Will also use with a RRS BH55. Support is strong and relatively light. The legs weigh about the same as the Miller Solo CF sticks, but collapses much smaller.
I use it with the Nikon D3,and 70-200 mm lens, it is very solid,on windy days the results are excellent.I use it with the Arca Swiss P1 S Monoball head.It is very small when folded, and can be carried in the carry on bag in the airplane, not heavy .I really recommend it.
