I purchased this mount for use on my Sunpak tripod as a replacement for the pan head for photography use.I combined this mount with a Weberly Sidekick gimbal mount converter for use with my Olympus OM-D EM-10 Mk II and a long telephoto lens for the total eclipse event earlier this month.
Positives: Smooth operation, 25LB capacity, Large stable baseNegative: None. Considering the capacity, weight of item at 1.4 LB is understandable.Having used the MH2000 double ball arrangement, this is vast improvementin stability and ease of use.
Good design, solid construction, excellent ergonomics and attractive finish.
Light enough to carry around, strong enough for a 5d and a 100-400 zoom. This is a quality product and a great value.
Bought this to use on a tripod. Had a single knob ball head on it but it was difficult to control precisely. Separate adjustment controls are so much better.Intended to mount an 323 RC2 QL that I already had but the diameter of the platform on the BH interfered with the pivot on the QL.
Just recently purchased this ball head and I don't know how I've gone so long without it. Great for panning and shooting birds in flight with camera ON my tripod.
I have semi-crippled hands and I needed a ballhead that required minimum strength to lock and adjust. This was the answer to my prayers It holds my heaviest camera and lens combinations with ease, and locks into place with little effort.
I have it mounted on a very nice manfrotto tripod (sorry, don't know the brand) and it compliments it well. Holds my 5D & 100-400mm w/ an adapter very nicely. I use it w/ a RRS quick lease.
This ballhead is amazing! I needed it for a large, heavy Nikon SLR + telephoto lens combination. The Giottos MH-1300 Pro Series II is rock solid, yet smooth and precise in all movements. It requires very little pressure to lock it in any position. The build and finish quality can't be beat.
I was looking for tripod head at reasonable cost for my Nikon and 500mm lens. I found it with this head. Very sturdy. No cons that I have found.
