The Garmin Forerunner 35 might not be a looker, but it does offer a solid all round running watch experience. It covers the basics well and is easy to get out running with. If you put in the time, there are plenty of other modes and settings lurking around the software and the hardware that runners...

“The Forerunner 35 is a lightweight, attractive, water-resistant smartwatch that is near-perfect for runners.”

The FR 35 is an extremely lightweight runners watch that checks off many of the boxes that runners like without all the extras.

  • +

Optical HR sensor, Extremely comfortable, GPS built-in, Waterproof down to 50m, Music controls with both streamed and stored music

  • -

A bit on the expensive side, Charges via a proprietary cable, HR sensor is not accurate for dynamic movements, A lot of wasted real estate due to large bezels

One of the best budget GPS watches available for runners and it’s now less than £100

  • -

The Forerunner 35’s everyday tracking is good, but you’re unlikely to want to wear it all the time thanks to its blocky design – it’s clearly a sports watch., It would take quite a while to lock on to GPS at the start of each run – probably 30-60 seconds longer than other trackers.

If you are a regular walker or a runner, chances are that you are most likely in the prime of health and maintaining a shapely and physically strong body. So when you are able to maintain your fitness regime nicely, why would you need a fitness tracker at all?

  • +

Accurate fitness tracking, long battery life, reliable heart rate sensor

  • -

    Plastic body, slow GPS connectivity

I didn't think I needed (or wanted a hr monitor) - BUT my old garmin was failing and unlike fitbits, Garmin's work without needing to link to a cell phone. So I thought I'd give the 35 GPS a try - and I love it.

This our second Forerunner 35, since I had one and purchased one for my husband. My only complaint would have been the lack of info on how to use the various features, but my husband had them figured out within an hour. We use our mostly for cycling info although the other features are interesting.

I purchased the Garmin Forerunner 35 primarily for cycling. I want to monitor my heart on climbs but I don't need all the features found on the more expensive models. I bought the chest strap to ensure accuracy. After a half dozen rides, the HRM function works great.

Really happy with this GPS watch/fitness tracker. As others have said, I'm not totally confident in the HR monitor's accuracy, but it gives a good general sense of where I'm at. Great GPS tracking, good battery life, very intuitive to use. I have medium-sized wrists and it fits well.

I bought this to help keep me active. I love that it uses gps tracking instead of arm movement to count my steps. It does everything I need it to. With extras to use for when I devote more to exercise activities not just walking. I have not used it in water yet.

Yes, it's huge, chunky, and square on my wrist...but it's definitely gotten this huge, chunky girl off the couch and that's why I LOVE IT. Worth Garmin connect on my phone I see everything from my sleep quality to my water intake, in addition to steps.

I bought the FR35 for cycling, running, and fitness tracking. It is a excellent at those functions. The battery life is roughly a week and the always on display is a welcome feature after two years using an Apple Watch.

Generally a fine device; like that there is an analog face. The alarm needs tweaking as it lasts only a minute and is not enough to wake someone from a deep sleep
