Garmin made a smart decision when it decided to refine and update the Forerunner family. Most of the previous devices looked antiquated and did not showcase the newest features that Garmin wearables have to offer.

  • +

Lightweight design with interchangeable bands., Accurate heart-rate monitor and GPS., Great battery life., Free Garmin Coach training plans will help novice runners., Solid in-app menstrual-health tracking., Can connect to Apple Health.

  • -

Limited advanced running stats in comparison to Forerunner 645 and higher-end devices., No NFC for Garmin Pay., Wi-Fi connectivity only available on the 245 Music., No barometric altimeter.

With the Forerunner 245 Music, Garmin struck the right balance between features and affordability. For $350, you're getting an accurate, feature-packed device that has many of the same running features as the higher-end models.

  • +

Durable, lightweight design Accurate GPS and heart rate sensors Plenty of music storage Seven-day battery life Garmin Coach training plans are very useful

  • -

No Garmin Pay No barometric altimeter You have to pay $50 extra just for music storage + Wi-Fi

I suspect the Forerunner 245 (and Forerunner 245 Music) will make a lot of folks pretty happy, and for good reason: It basically reduces the price of a higher end Garmin running watch by $100.

Previously wore Fitbit but got tired of replacing them, they don’t have a repair shop. Once I got used to the size difference I found the Garmin to be more comfortable. This is a great smartwatch if you are looking for connectivity but not a serious attachment, and you don’t want to be basic like...

I bought this watch a while ago and I am very happy with the features and in general. I do suffer from two things that make it annoying sometimes. 1. It take sometime take up to few attempts to establish connection with my iPhone and sync information. After few attempts it connects and works great.

The Forerunner 245 music is almost everything Id been looking for in a running watch. Quick satellite fixing. Accurate tracking Reliable heart rate monitoring Easy to navigate controls My only complaint is the buttons stick after a salt water swim and the music syncing takes forever and is clunky.

I've owned Garmin running watches for years and years and this is my favorite. It's relatively small so doesn't overpower my wrist and it's light. I love the safety feature that if I have an emergency, like tripping and falling, it'll alert my contacts. I also bought the Dynamic Pod to go with it.

I bought this when it first came out because I wanted a more classic face than the vivoactive hr music. I was disappointed to find out it doesn't have Garmin pay. I also really miss the touch screen. I wish Garmin would make the forerunner with the same qualities as the vivoactive line.

I bought my 245 music 3 months ago and love it. It’s amazing at all the data that you can process. Battery life is good. I would love to see Garmin in the future think about going solar. Battery life would be top notch then.

I love this watch. It is my favorite to date. Allows me to run without my phone for music and keeps me on pace for all my workouts. I am a runner and triathlete. I use it primarily for running and occasionally in the pool for laps. I have a separate bike computer for cycling.

I bough this watch in order to get the extra stats for my HRM , the stress and SpO2 stats, and music. Overall the watch is great for running, the only cons I've seen so far are battery life (I only get 6 days per charge without music) and that the SpO2 takes to much battery for daily use.
