Given our limited time with a Fujifilm X-T30 pre-production unit, not to mention the fact that we only had two kit lenses -- the Fujinon XC15-45mmF3.5-5.6 OIS PZ and the Fujinon XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS -- for testing, it's hard for us to gauge this camera's full capabilities.

  • +

Much-improved AF, Improved Eye and Face Detection and Tracking, Better grip, Joystick, Supersampled 4K, F-log recording on hand, Eterna color profile, Monochrome Adjustment for Acros and B&W, Affordable price tag, Charcoal grey color available

  • -

AF unstable in low light, No 4K at 60fps, No IBIS, Battery life could be better, No weather sealing, Higher ISO noise handling is not great

With excellent tech and great design, the X-T30 is the best bargain in cameras right now.

  • +

Fast autofocus with face/eye detection, Same sensor, processor as X-T3, 10-bit 4K video output, Engaging user experience, Fast continuous shooting speed

  • -

No in-body image stabilization, Some ergonomic compromises, Small image buffer

Shrinking down the best parts (and price) of the X-T3

  • +

Same sensor as X-T3 at much lower price, Excellent autofocus and burst shooting capabilities, Compact and light, Nice 4K video

  • -

Probably too small for people with big hands, No weather sealing, Viewfinder is improved from X-T20, but no match for X-T3, Standard carry-a-spare mirrorless battery life

Fujifilm has got plenty right here: a tough body, sound AF performance, great image quality straight out of the camera and lovely 4K videos, and all for a very reasonable price. We have some reservations around operation and the electronic viewfinder, but there's far more here to love than to be...

  • +

Great build quality, Superb value for money, Plenty of customization options, Excellent 4K video quality, Lovely default JPEG output, Speedy AF system

  • -

0.62x EVF magnification, Grip not ideal for larger lenses, Some controls can be fiddly, No sensor-based stabilization, Tripod thread awkwardly placed, No UHS-II support

Editor’s note: If you’re looking for a new compact system camera, the Fujifilm X-T30 is a strong new contender – and is nearing its release on 20 March 2019. I’ve spent 12 hours with a final production version of this miniature version of the X-T3 in Rome, so here are some extra impressions of the...

Fujifilm have once again hit a home run with the launch of the X-T30. As the successor to their best-selling camera ever, the X-T20, this new version has a lot to live up to, but thankfully there's lots to like and little to complain about, something that we've repeatedly said about almost all...

I got this camera at 21 march, and it was very compact, same as DPreview TV's video say. Great for who want to upgrade from beginners level to more function mid pro level and yet what it can do really going grow with user's ability. Yes, it did give up on some function and the better handling.

So, here is the short story: I dropped my X-T20 on a hard floor last month, Fuji wanted to charge me 500$ for repair. I said no and I better joined the line of people pre-ordering the new Fuji X-T30.
