The Fujifilm X-T2 is a fast-shooting mirrorless camera that doesn't disappoint when it comes to imaging, video, or build quality, and is backed by a strong lens library.

  • +

24MP APS-C X-Trans III image sensor. 8fps shooting rate with focus tracking. Optional grip improves speed to 11fps. Large, crisp EVF. Dual-hinged tilting rear display. Superb handling. Two UHS-II SD slots. Numerous film emulation options. Dust and moisture resistant. 4K video capture. Wi-Fi.

  • -

Omits touch screen and in-body stabilization. Raw buffer could be larger. No in-camera flash. 4K footage suffers from rolling shutter effect.

The X-T2 is Fujifilm's most all-round capable ILC ever. It offers the excellent Raw image quality and delicious JPEGs as the X-Pro2 but gains much improved autofocus and some of the most detailed 4K footage we've seen.

  • +

Excellent image quality in both Raw and JPEG, Superb JPEG color options, Direct controls give engaging shooting experience, Reassuringly solid build quality, AF point joystick speed up operation, Greatly improved autofocus, especially in terms of tracking, Dual hinged rear screen suits both stills...

  • -

JPEG noise reduction can sometimes over-smooth skin detail at very high ISO, Camera's full AF capability only available with a subset of lenses, Subject tracking, while good, is not dependable enough for professional use, AF performance drops significantly in low light, Phase detection region is...

These alone would be enough for many XT1 owners to consider an upgrade, but the XT2 also becomes the first X-series ILC to feature 4k video and a screen that flips sideways as well as vertically. It also enhances the capabilities of the Continuous AF system with new customizable profiles.

  • +

Superb image quality out-of-camera - best in class., Good quality 4k video with mild crop and good AF., Very competent autofocus and tracking (with fast XF lenses)., Large viewfinder and screen that tilts vertically and sideways, Great controls, ergonomics and build quality. Weatherproof.

  • -

Lack of touchscreen limits ease of pulling focus in movies., No built-in stabilisation (but it may be impossible with X-bodies)., AE bracketing limited to three frames., Auto ISO unaware of lens focal length for minimum shutter speed.

When we reviewed the X-T1 in 2014, we concluded by saying it was one of the finest premium compact system cameras we’d ever tested. We instantly fell in love with its chic styling and DSLR-like layout of buttons and dials.

Along with the inclusion of the excellent 24.3MP X-Trans CMOS sensor and a host of refinements round the body, and the X-T2 promises to be one of the best cameras we've seen all year.

  • +

Greatly improved AF, Large and bright EVF, 24.3MP X-Trans CMOS sensor, Body mounted controls

No touchscreen, Lowest setting of ISO 200 shooting raw, Exposure comp dial still easily knocked

The X-T2 is Fujifilm’s second mirrorless camera with the new “X-Trans CMOS III” sensor, first seen in the company’s top-of-the-line X-Pro2 model. The X-T2 offers 24 megapixels of resolution and is Fujifilm’s first X-series camera that is able to record video in 4K resolution.

Fujifilm’s X-T2 is the perfect mirrorless camera for photo geeks. It seems like that’s true of every camera that Fujifilm releases, but the X-T2 is a refined sequel to the X-T1 that improves on its...

The X-T2 is a fraction the price, size and weight of a Canon 5DS R or Nikon D810 , and it's a very serious camera. Get one, I did! It's so much better than any of my digital LEICAs. The Fuji X100T is functionally the same thing with a fixed lens.

I've been shooting professionally for close to two decades now and I've used offerings form every digital camera manufacturer with the exception of Leica and the larger medium format options (though I do shoot MF film still).

I have the Fujifim X-T2 for 3 weeks now and I have no time to write reviews anymore. This is the Camera I was waiting for for a long time. It's just great. My expensive Nikon DSLR Full Frame stuff stays at home or gets sold.
