The Fujifilm X-T1 Graphite Silver Edition is a beautiful camera, but it doesn't offer any performance advantages over the standard X-T1.

  • +

Excellent image quality at every ISO. 8.3fps continuous shooting. Snappy autofocus. Time lapse feature. Weather-sealed body. Lots of physical controls. Best-in-class EVF. Great manual focus aids. Hinged rear display. Wi-Fi. 1/32,000-second electronic shutter. Classic Chrome film mode.

  • -

More expensive than standard X-T1. A little slow to start up. No built-in flash. Geotagging could be better implemented. On the pricey side.

The Fujifilm X-T1 is a retro-style mirrorless Compact System Camera (CSC) that looks like an SLR of the 1970s and offers numerous setup dials to change nearly all image parameters without using the LCD screen menu.

What can we say? Fujifilm makes some of the finest mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras available with its X-series, even if it’s a bit pricey. We gave the X-E2 our Recommended rating, but this even more expensive model deserves an Editor’s Choice designation.

  • +

High-quality photos and movies, Superior ISO capabilities, Tilting LCD, excellent EVF, Made for experienced photographers

  • -

High price, Bulky, Limited weather-resistant lens lineup, Relatively steep learning curve

Indeed, it’s hard to think of a camera that’s come closer. While there is perhaps no perfect size for any type of camera, the X-T1 feels just about right for what it can do. It’s big enough for a sizeable hand grip with textured rubber and all the knobs necessary for manual adjustments, but small...

  • +

Great image quality with natural colors and skin tones. Weatherproof body with quick access to practically every setting. Excellent eye-level viewfinder and manual-focus helpers. Fast autofocus and peppy continuous-shooting mode. In-camera RAW-conversion tools. The kit lens is great for a kit lens.

  • -

Battery life is only OK. No built-in flash (but it does come with a little detachable one). Steep learning curve for novices. Expensive for its sensor size.

The Fuji X-T1 is a great example of the retro genre. Don't let its surprisingly compact, vintage-styled body fool you, though: It's wrapped around cutting-edge technology, including a class-leading electronic viewfinder and Fuji's exclusive X-Trans sensor technology.

  • +

Excellent image quality; Solid, weather-sealed body; Retro design that actually makes sense in a digital camera; Very low viewfinder lag for single-servo shooting; Fast burst shooting with great buffer depths; In-camera Wi-Fi connectivity, Solid body exudes quality, feels like a precision...

Exposure compensation dial is easily bumped; Four-way controller buttons are hard to press; Significant viewfinder lag for burst shooting; No raw files above ISO 6,400; Default settings strongly limit JPEG dynamic range, Exposure compensation dial is easily bumped, Four-way controller buttons are...

The X-T1 is probably Fujifilm's best camera to date, offering a compelling combination of intuitive handling, excellent image quality, and one of best electronic viewfinders we've seen.

  • +

Analogue dials and switches provide engaging shooting experience, Superb, huge high resolution electronic viewfinder gives generally-accurate preview of image, Excellent image quality at both Low and High ISOs, Very attractive JPEG colour rendition, Consistently well-judged metering and auto white...

  • -

Rear buttons are small, and almost flush to camera body, Four-way controller is rather 'spongey' in feel, Awkwardly positioned, locking ISO dial is inconvenient (especially with large lenses), Raw files not recorded when ISO dial set to 'L', 'H1' and 'H2' positions, Limited manual control during...

The Fujifilm X-T1 is a great camera for advanced photographers as long as its quirks don't bother you.

  • +

The stunning viewfinder, comfy grip and plethora of direct controls makes the Fujifilm X-T1 a joy to shoot with, plus the image quality is great and the continuous-shooting is among the best in its class.

  • -

Some of the controls are too hard to manipulate, its general performance doesn't stand out, and the movie quality disappoints.

The Fujifilm X-T1 is one of the more interesting mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras you're going to find on the market currently. Its design contains a classic combination of dials and buttons that will remind you of an SLR film camera.

  • +

Outstanding image quality, Good low light performance with minimal noise at mid- to high-ISO settings, Can shoot in RAW format, Intriguing design with plenty of all-metal dials and buttons, One of the best electronic viewfinders in any camera, High resolution LCD screen can tilt up to 90 degrees, Q...

  • -

Design can take some practice to learn to use efficiently for less experienced photographers, Some of the dials are difficult to access because of stacked design, X-T1 doesn't use traditional shooting modes, which can be confusing for less experienced photographers, Must use awkward combination of...

Weather-resistant design, top-notch image quality, speedy autofocus, excellent smartphone apps

  • -

Mediocre video quality and adjustments, retro controls can be confusing for some users

I've been a serious photographer for more than four decades and I've owned close to 20 cameras. My first "serious" camera was a Nikkormat FTN, which was a perfect camera for learning the basics - how shutter speed, aperture, and film sensitivity interacted to produce good exposures, and how to...

This camera is sturdy and performs above expectations in everything it does. The dials are easy to locate by feel and vertical shooting with the battery pack is great one-handed. This has been a fantastic upgrade. The only subpar feature is the video but I knew that before going in.

This package is strictly for the forensic professional and has a lot of equipment that no doubt was carefully selected after conferring with people who work in the field. You have what you need to get right to work capturing images in Full Spectrum.

I am amateur enthusiast moving to Fuji from Nikon full frame. I like the size, feature set and layout so far. I also appreciate that there has just been another upgrade to the software. Fuji has impressed me and I suspect this will not be my last Fuji... already looking at the Xt-2

This is a great camera. I came from a Nikon DSLR system. The Fuji menu system wasn't as confusing as I was warned, perhaps because I have used many types of cameras?I love the ease of dials on the top of the camera.
