The X-H1 is Fujifilm’s most powerful and most refined camera yet. It is clearly the result of thoughtful work, a result of taking the time to get things right — at least, most things. But the X-H1 is hitting the market at the same time as many other impressive cameras.

  • +

Impressively well designed and built, 5-axis in-body image stabilization, Cinema 4K video at 200Mbps, 3.69-million-dot electronic viewfinder, Eterna film simulation

  • -

Face detection AF can be unreliable, Some audio bugs using external microphones

The Fujifilm X-H1 camera adds in-body stabilization to the X series and offers loads of tools for both photographers and videographers.

  • +

Shoots at 8fps with mechanical shutter and 14fps with electronic shutter. 5-axis sensor stabilization. 24MP APS-C sensor. 200Mbps 4K video. Log video profile. Tilting rear LCD. Dual card slots. Monochrome information LCD. Weather-sealed body.

  • -

Expensive. Not a true vari-angle LCD. No EV dial. Add-on grip required for top performance. No built-in flash. Omits headphone jack. Video recording chews through batteries.

The X-H1 is a camera able to adapt to a wide variety of shooting situations, with excellent image quality, very good video performance and solid autofocus performance. As usual, the camera's color in its JPEGs and movie footage is one of the highlights.

  • +

    Someone looking for a video/stills all-rounder

  • -

Anyone looking for the perfect tool for one specific job

The Fujifilm X-H1 pairs a 24 megapixels X-Trans CMOS III sensor with a revised X-Processor Pro. It produces high-quality images with excellent image-noise, sharpness, wide dynamic-range and white-balance.

  • +

Very low image noise up to ISO 3200, Wide dynamic-range, Reliable metering, Natural rendition of image colors, Excellent automatic white-balance, Instant shutter-lag with virtually no blackout, Fluid ultra-sharp EVF, Continuous AF at 14 FPS, Plenty of direct controls, Instant video response,...

  • -

Occasional autofocus misses, Limited stabilization, Not Exposure-Priority, Incorrect histogram in Live-View, Complicated Shutter-Speed control, Stacked dials move too easily, Slow shot-to-shot speed, Very short battery-life, Quite bulky, Pricey, Soft aperture detents With all current XF-mount lenses

The X-H1 is Fujifilm’s most advanced camera, thanks to the brand new 5-axis stabilization, high-resolution EVF, quiet electronic front curtain shutter and DCI 4K video. However, it’s a lot bigger and heavier than other X-series cameras, which may give Fujifilm fans pause.

  • +

Great RAW and JPEG image quality Sharp DCI 4K video with little moire or aliasing, Solid weather-resistant build, Good autofocus for both video and photos, 5-axis image stabilization works well for still and video shooting

  • -

Big heavy body that Fujifilm fans might not like, Lacks exposure compensation dial, Autofocus doesn’t work well outside the phase-detect zone, Limited battery life, Video shooting times limited to 15 minutes, No built-in headphone jack

There's no question that the Fujifilm X-H1 is the most advanced X Series camera to date, thanks to a range of new and refined features, but its size means it loses some of that core X Series DNA that has made cameras like the X-T2 firm favorites. It's a very good camera, but not quite a great one.

  • +

In-body image stabilization, Brilliant viewfinder, Touchscreen control, DCI 4K video, Dedicated AF-On button

  • -

Fiddly exposure compensation control, Performance hasn't moved on from X-T2, Larger design won't appeal to everyone, Battery performance could be better

The X-H1 is a highly impressive performer in the evolving Fujifilm X-series and is a more than capable alternative to many of today’s heavier and bulkier professional DSLRs.

  • +

Benefits from In Body Image Stabilisation (IBIS), Introduces Flicker Reduction mode, Supports excellent power booster grip (VPB-XH1), Improved electronic viewfinder (OVF/EVF)

  • -

    Camera battery can’t be charged via booster, Small AF-ON AE-L buttons on VPB-XH1, Doesn’t feature 4:2:2 10-bit video, No USB-Type C interface

While the new Fujifilm X-H1 is the best-specced, best-performing X-series camera to date, curiously we feel that it doesn't quite have the widest appeal, both within the Fujifilm eco-system and the camera market as a whole.

Fujifilm's new X-Series flagship offers a lot to photographers who appreciate the company's traditional camera styling, with manually adjustable lens aperture rings and shutter speed and ISO dials.

I have an X-E3 and an X-T2 bodies and love the traditional ergonomics and am heavily invested in Fuji Lenses.I bought the X-H1 as it has a larger grip built in that helps with large lenses, is more solidly built than the T2 or E3 which will be useful for travel and it offers IBIS which is great on...

This is one of the best, if not the best ASP-C camera on the market. If you liked the Fuji X-T2 image quality you will of course like this camera as they share identical sensors. For those who don't normally shoot raw, the jpegs are fantastic SOOC.

  • +

Excellent image quality. Very good ergonomics.

  • -

Heavier than the X-T2 and Sony a7ii. Battery could be better.

Introduction The Fujifilm X-H1 launch has come and gone and I have had my hands on one for a little while now. It's the most expensive APSC camera developed by Fujifilm to date and also the first one to feature IBIS.

Ive been shooting with an X-T1 since 2015 and I felt it was time for an upgrade. I was considering the A7III but I am already invested into the Fuji system so I got the XH1 instead.

So, I gave this a review earlier (under "Mary"), and after a month, have the following to add:I find that I'm getting used to the weight; I carry this camera while hiking w/ a 55-200 mm lens and it's not overly bulky.I read that the eyepiece tends to come apart, and yes, mine has done that.

After several years with the x100s, I was ready to step up to a 'modern' Fuji. I am not disappointed. I was always frustrated with the slow focus of the x100s. No more. This is snappy and accurate.

I bought a used X-T2 a few months to evaluate for wildlife photography while considering the move from Canon DSLRs to mirrorless. After tweaking the autofocus, my keeper rate for birds in flight was consistently higher than my Canon 7D bodies.

Amazing camera, and ibis helps non stabilised lenses shoot at lower shutter speeds handheld much more at ease over its predecessors. Quiet, smooth shutter. Feels amazing with or without grip.

While some might not like the additional size and weight from the XT-1/2 for me the in camera image stabilization and larger hand grip makes it worth it. I would always have the hand grip or battery grip on my XT-2 because I didn't feel confident in my grip otherwise and this camera I happily take...
