Since the beginning of the digital imaging revolution the world of photography has changed radically and even more changes are on the horizon. MILC models will continue to steal market share from DSLRs and sometime in the near future I predict that MILCs will become the primary camera choice for...

  • +

Excellent image quality, Fast maximum aperture kit zoom, Very good ergonomics, Very low noise levels

  • -

    Expensive, Rather primitive video mode

We’re fans of the X-series, even with the flaws noted here. Colors and white balance are very accurate, with a richness, tone, and depth that are quite impressive. Fujifilm wants a premium price for its better models and we can’t begrudge the company for doing so.

  • +

High-quality stills, Very responsive, Outstanding EVF

  • -

Bit of learning curve, Fixed-position LCD not touch capable, Uneven exposures in some movie clips

The Fujifilm X-E2S is an engaging camera for those with some photographic experience, or for newcomers looking for a camera to grow into. The build quality, controls and handling are all excellent, the trademark Fujifilm JPEG output remains a staff favorite and the lens ecosystem offers a wide...

It delivers great images and is still fun to shoot with, but the Fujifilm X-E2 isn't a no-brainer upgrade over the X-E1 and other cameras outfeature it.

  • +

The Fujifilm X-E2 delivers the same excellent photo quality as the X-E1, with a more streamlined design and slightly better performance.

  • -

It's still not terribly fast, especially for action, and the feature set remains relatively average. Plus you really don't want to use it for shooting video unless you're very careful about frame rates.

I loved this camera. Adored it. Took many, many photos with it. Why do I speak in the past tense? I bought the Fuji X-T1 a few months ago and in every way it’s better. The guy I just sold it to is very happy with it.

  • +

Easy access to full manual controls, Excellent IQ in Auto modes, Kit lens is top-quality with excellent glass and solid build, 1.5X APS-C X-Trans sensor provides razor-sharp images, EVF viewfinder gives you access to horizon level and histogram as well as 100% coverage of image, Wide variety of film...

  • -

Expensive...but the Canon 70D, which has a slightly smaller sensor, is also in this price range, Best XF-mount lenses not available yet (but coming soon), Tripod mount hole off-center and QR plates will block access to the battery/memory card door, Dials easy to knock out of place while taking the...

The Fujifilm X-E2 is a declaration of love lovers old fashioned photography. The build quality and controls, one of the images and also the kit lens are simply outstanding, and fear few comparisons in the price range of approximately $1,399.

  • +

Excellent image quality, Fast AF single, Deep but intuitive controls, Excellent build quality, Valuable kit lens, Electronic viewfinder quality.

  • -

Continuous AF still performs poorly, No HDR mode, Abundant size for a mirrorless. Video mode not finished.

The Fujifilm X-E2 is a well-crafted camera with a polished look. But in this case, style trumps usability. You can get nice photos in many cases with this mirrorless camera, but it requires more finessing than you need on similarly priced or even cheaper mirrorless and DSLR cameras, such as the...

Handsome retro design, solidly constructed, Bright, crystal-clear OLED viewfinder, Fast (large-aperture) zoom kit lens

The Fuji X-E2 follows the X-E1 with another unique X-Trans CMOS II sensor with 16 MP and no anti-aliasing filter, this time adding fast Phase-Detect autofocus on-sensor. The X-E2 delivers image-quality that rivals APS-C DSLRs.

  • +

Extremely low image noise up to ISO 6400, Superb dynamic-range, Good sharpness at low ISO, Very reliable metering, Fast autofocus, Natural rendition of image colors, Very good automatic white-balance, Excellent EVF, Plenty of direct controls, Instant video response, Excellent build quality

  • -

ISO 800+ soft from noise-reduction, Unusable ISO 25600, Below average shot-to-shot speed, Not Exposure-Priority, Slow continuous AF, EVF and LCD lag continuous drive, EVF diopter easy to accidentally change, Short battery-life, Soft aperture detents With all current XF-mount lenses

The Fujifilm X-E2 slots nicely into the polished end of mid range interchangeable lens cameras. It features the new X-Trans CMOS II sensor with a 16.3 megapixel capture that produces amazingly sharp images with great clarity.

From being the quirkiest and the buggiest system on the market just a couple of years ago, Fuji’s products have been transforming to a solid choice for many photographers – all thanks to Fuji’s commitment to the mount and willingness to fix reported problems by its fast-growing fan base.

Having the functions/benefits of 'heavy'/pro SLR and coming in a very lightweight format. Good for travel, everyday use and just having in your bag going anywhere (light/small enough to grab along).

I am using the camera with the fujifilm leica-m adapter and a summicron 35/2 and an Elmarit 90/2.8 (two lenses that were sleeping in my drawers for many years). Using a 'grip belt' that allows me to hold and manipulate the camera with my right arm.

I've had the X-E1, X-E2 and now, the X-E2S. I love the form factor and that I can set the shutter speed withouy going to the menu.

X-E2S replaces an X10, which in turn replaced a larger Pentax DSLR setup which I had grown tired of hauling around. Most of my photography takes place during motorcycle trips, and that use case screams for a smaller format more likely to be close at hand.

I had done some homework before my purchase of a Fujifilm X-E series camera. Went to DP Review and compared several. I'm a professional architectural photographer and use the Canon 5Ds for my work. But, the Fujifilm I carry everywhere. The optics are excellent.
