There isn't anything particularly special about that Latitude 5580 that we haven't already mentioned on our existing E5550/E5570 pages. Its long battery life, easy maintenance, very wide range of options, Linux certification, and comfortable keyboard all make for an attractive and very versatile...

Thunderbolt 3, Smart Card, fingerprint reader, WWAN/SIM, and NFC options, comfortable keyboard and trackpad, relatively quiet under heavy load, 3x storage bays; NVMe support, MIL STD 810G-certified chassis, wide range of CPU options, above average lid rigidity, low power consumption, very long...

-
dim backlight, poor colors, poor contrast, limited sRGB coverage, audible HDD; system fan almost always active, no discrete GPU solutions or touchscreen, PWM on all brightness up to 99 percent, trackpad keys could have been firmer, very low quality 768p TN panel, no E-port
What's big and beefy, but weighs only 4.2 pounds? It's the Dell Latitude 5580, an all-work-and-no-play powerhouse desktop-replacement you can think of as the XPS 15's corporate cousin.

Potent performance., Good battery life., Full-sized keyboard with dual pointing devices.
-
-
Display could be brighter., Lacks Thunderbolt 3 support.
-
+
optional Thunderbolt, good input devices, 3x drive bays, NVMe support, MIL STD 810G-certified case, fast SD-card reader, good price
-
-
mediocre brightness levels, cooling fan always audible, no performance improvement since i5-7200U version, no E-Port (docking)
Love this, as it is the same great product I use at work.
-We use Dell laptops at my work and they are easy to use, easy to support, easy to service. This device usually goes for much more straight from Dell and at this price it's a good option for office work, and as a portable workstation.

-Sturdy construction that doesn't creek or flex.
-
-
-A bit on the heavier side, though use on laptop or on desk top it is not an issue.

Good business PC. Screen is nice if you don't use the touchscreen.

Speakers stopped working a few months in, headphone jack stopped working after the first use. SD card reader refused to work at all.
I just had to replace the hard drive after less than six months!
