Nothing much has changed on the surface: with its understated design and smooth black exterior, Dell's 14-inch Latitude 5480 still looks a lot like the predecessor Latitude 14 E5470 . The high-end Kaby Lake i7 dual-core CPU offers outstanding performance sufficient for most business tasks.

sturdy, no-frills design, great overall performance, stellarbattery life, multi-factor authentication hardware, multitude of options (WiGig, WWAN, Thunderbolt, GPU,...)

some ports are hard to access (rear), somewhat spongy keyboard, trackpoint buttons not ideal, display much dimmer than before, can get noisy under load
The Lenovo ThinkPad T470 exemplifies the mainstream business laptop, with a no-nonsense body, manageable weight, excellent keyboard, dual pointing devices, and long battery life.

Comfortable keyboard., 17 hours of battery life with upgraded battery., Hot-swappable battery., Ethernet port and Thunderbolt 3 port.

Muddy sound., Matte screen finish dulls colors.
This laptop is well balanced with the mid-range configurations. It manages to stay portable while offering a usable screen, decent performance, and acceptable battery life.

Reasonably portable, Very good typing experience, Battery life acceptable, but could be better, Lots of ports

Base-model screen too low resolution, Hinge a bit stiff for one-handed opening, IR camera not available with best screen
What if a laptop didn’t offer you incredible looks, but did deliver a best-in-class experience? What if it had amazing battery life, a decent enough display and the latest processors?
I purchased a Latitude 5480, and what I got is 5490. Although the model is far better than the older version, the specifications did not met my expectations. I was expecting, face recognition system and optional touch fingerprint reader, which this laptop you have sent me does not have.
I use this computer at work. It is constantly overheating and the fan whirls up so it sounds like a jet plane ready to take off. I bought a special cooling pad but it doesn't seem to be doing much. It won't wake from hibernation about 50% of the time and I have to completely restart the computer.
Great size computer. Super fast.
Not at all happy with this purchase. This is quite literally one of the slowest laptops I've had the displeasure of owning. It constantly makes a clicking/thinking noise and at this moment I've been trying to shut the thing down for ten minutes. It's actually slower than the laptop I was replacing.
Dell is awful to work with, spent over 30k with them this year and won't take back one simple hard drive. Will not use them going forward.
★ from Anna on August 25, 2017 I received a non functioning laptop.. don't know how ... Mine got "blue death" screen after 5 min use
