Potential buyers of the Dell XPS 13 are facing an interesting decision right now. The new Kaby Lake-R processors provide much more CPU performance, while the Iris GPU in combination with the "old" Kaby Lake CPUs promises more GPU performance.

compact & sturdy chassis, bright & matte screen, very good application performance, good input devices, very long battery runtime, quiet fan...
-
-
...but annoying coil whine, CPU/GPU cannot utilize full potential, low gamut and PWM, small and spongy arrow keys
The XPS 13, Dell's venerable ultraportable with the bezel-free screen, gets Intel's new quad-core CPU, with electrifying results in both speed and battery life.
-
+
Stunning performance and battery life., Sleek, compact design., Handsome 1080p display.
-
-
Inconvenient webcam location., No HDMI port.
A further refinement of the XPS 13 keeps it at the top, but competition is getting ever more fierce
To the majority users, the most important part of the Kaby Lake XPS 13 9360 update is the fact that the Skylake XPS 13 9350 will now be cheaper. The performance deltas between these nearly identical notebooks are so minimal that buyers intending to use the notebook for classwork, browsing, or...

relatively accessible internals; upgradeable storage, strong chassis and lid; excellent workmanship, smaller than other 13.3-inch notebooks, USB Type-C Gen. 2 + Thunderbolt 3, Killer 1535 wireless as standard, high quality QHD+ touchscreen, very long battery life, low fan noise
-
-
warm operating and surface temperatures, inconsistent dynamic brightness control, unimpressive internal speakers, suboptimal webcam placement, fingerprint magnet, small Arrow keys, no DDR4 RAM
The Dell XPS 13 9360 with FHD display and 7th-generation i5 processor picks up where the predecessors have left of. The Kaby Lake chipset performs as expected, operation is smooth and fast and the notebook remains unobtrusive during all but the most extreme scenarios.
-
+
impressive sturdiness and build quality, ultra-thin bezel and correspondingly low footprint, very good system performance, outstanding battery life, impressive WiFi performance (Killer wireless card), remains quiet under most conditions, top-notch input devices
-
-
display brightness could be higher, just average coverage of the color spaces, can run very hot, occasional (mild) coil whine, not as thin as some others, space bar pressure not uniform
-
+
good contrast; >90 % sRGB, good run times; large battery, sturdy aluminum chassis; great design, quiet system fan, good CPU performance, good bass, bright display, Killer 1535 is standard, easy to maintain
-
-
chassis reverberates at high volume levels / bass, PWM at all brightness levels (including maximum), Toshiba NVMe SSD features low transfer rates, arrow keys are small and feel spongy
The Dell XPS 13 with Kaby Lake is an update of the existing Skylake version. The new WLAN module from Killer in particular can convince during our review with useful features and excellent performance figures.
Dell’s XPS 13 is back for 2016 with an updated specification that includes more efficient Intel Kaby Lake processors and longer battery life. While the 2015 edition won our coveted Laptop of the Year award last time out, the 2016 model faces stiff competition from rival Windows 10 machines such as...

Compact and attractive design, Great CPU performance, All-day battery life
-
-
No Intel Iris Graphics, Gappy touchpad and keyboard, Bizarre webcam placement
The continuing marriage of panache, performance and price allows us to overlook minor design flaws and once again bestow the Dell XPS 13 with our Best in Class award.
-
+
Incredible performance, Amazing battery life, Great value, Lots of options
-
-
Webcam orientation still a bother, Poor speaker placement
The best Linux Ultrabook in the world just got a tiny bit better. A new processor, an updated operating system, better battery life and that same sumptuous screen make this one hard to resist.
-
+
Modern OS, Useful improvements across the board, Probably the best Ultrabook (still)
-
-
OS update still required for optimal performance, QHD+ model is expensive, Not really worth it if you already have the 9350
Best laptop I ever owned. Been using apple for a decade now and I really needed a change. Plus I wasted lots of dollar on buying macbook with high processors and rams. But this has everything with way less price. The infinity edge display looks awesome on this laptop. Super fast.
Gets very hot. the heating system is not good. I burned one motherboard due to overheating. I had to buy cooling pad to vent away the excessive heat. Dell was great to work with on overheating issue but it took 2 3hr phone calls before they agreed to let me send it back in
Great laptop, everything runs smoothly. Pros: super quick. easy on the eyes ;) picture quality is great, touch screen works amazingly! read a lot about the keyboard being too shallow, i don't think so at all. track-pad is smooth and responsive.
Pretty awesome, just a few well documented quirks. Not having a dedicated graphics card is pretty noticeable on some programs, units fans kick on and CPU goes to 100%. Same with mouse use, for some reason some mouses make the CPU go nuts, big spikes when moving the mouse which locks up your program...
Great laptop when it works fine. The build is extremely premium and the battery life is terribly long. The problem here is this really annoying screen flicker. It randomly glitches the screen. It happens very often and sadly online you will find hundreds of the same reports.
After 1 week of use the battery is flashing orange and it won't stay on unless you plug it in. It's a nice laptop however, and performance wise is decent enough.
I’m not at all happy with this laptop. I wish I could return it. It’s either too sensitive or doesn’t respond at all, it’s just very frustrating to use.
This computer is super nice but I've had a lot of issues with it. First I noticed that the speakers crackle. It's annoying. Luckily I mostly use headphones or watch movies on my TV. The next issue is coil whine. If I plug in a set of headphones, I can hear the whine.
Power cord/battery charger quit working at 18 months! It was intermittent at 13 months. One month past warranty. DELL, GOOD Planning, BAD Business. They will diagnose it, if you send it to them for $39 and let you know how much it will cost to fix it. They Should send a new charger.
I like the smaller size of this lap top. I have a desk top with a large screen but for travel larger is a hassel.
