In this day and age, it’s hard to find a smartphone that can’t record 1080p video, and all flagship phones have been able to capture 4K video for at least a year or two. While that gives us super high resolution files, it doesn’t necessarily mean your videos will look silky smooth.
DJI OSMO Mobile is a gimbal for those looking to up their smartphone video game.
First off, I’m going to talk about what I would like to see improved on the DJI Osmo Mobile. If you’re recording video on your smartphone, make sure it has lots of memory. You’ll also soon realize that the battery on the Osmo Mobile is going to out last the one inside your phone, so if DJI can...
Some people like shaky video. It’s often employed to give a film an ad hoc or documentary feel to it.
Performance, Price, Build quality, Battery life, App features
Phone case won't fit, Video resolution missing from app
The latest Osmo does away with a camera and allows you to use your phone’s camera to take stabilised videos, and it’s a lot cheaper, too. Here's our DJI Osmo Mobile review
The app turned my iPhone into an inferno, which was a mild bit troubling. 8 minutes and 30% battery later, I had to shut it down. Additionally, the software makes using the neat features and then getting the videos properly saved into your library, an interesting trick.
Learning to use the Osmo mobile. I am finding some peformance inconsistencies. I am not sure whether or not it is going to be as useful as I had hoped. Still working on figuring out the kinks and deciding if it is worth keeping.
When it is balanced and seems to be in an agreeable position, it snaps to attention and is very responsive. I am using it strictly for Zillow Walkthroughs so I'm no advanced video to scrutinize.
It seems a little flakey about positioning itself. Sometimes it works and other times, it does not appear to be responsive.
Travel to Japan with this thing. Took daily video & photos. Note DJI software only take photo in video-resolution. However, it can do 9 Frame panorama which give a awesome super wide landscape photo.
Awesome software integrations with Iphone 6S & above, Good software integrations with Android phone, Greater battery life compare to prior DJI Osmo that's with built in Camera. (last full day no problem)
Don't mount to tripod unless you get DJI-option parts. or DYI
Be advised! This won't work with the new iPhone 8/8 Plus or X cause apple implemented on this models a feature called OIS (optical image stabilisation) that can't be turned off. The feature is pretty useful on it's own for your average videos, but when you put your new iPhone on the OSMO this will...
Great product, keeps the videos looking really professional for your mobile!
Not sure where other reviews came from, but I have my iPhone 7 in the Osmo Mobile, with DJI app, and everything is working perfectly. At a full run, the jiggle is barely noticeable. No image shake at a run even, and when standing/walking it's PERfect.
As a social media manager, the DJI Osmo offers the next level of filming capabilities without having to spend a load of money on expensive specialised equipment, it's simple and easy to use design and features mean that you can achieve professional level video with your iPhone and it's camera.
Good gadget. Does more than you think.
This is one of the best new additions to our film program. Great for getting the students to not always use static shots. And...much easier to set up than a steadicam. Yes, they have to compromise on quality by using their phones, but for quick action scenes its all good, and works as intended!
Love this thing. It's very durable and excellent quality. I wish the charge held longer for full day of shooting or at least a few more hours but otherwise it's great. It comes with a nice pouch and you really do achieve cinematic quality.
