Very happy so far. Only time will tell. I have a 17" Epson printer, which makes great prints, but uses up a lot of ink. I was planning to buy a 24" or 44" Epson until I read the large Epson had a history of clogging up the printhead and being very expensive to repair, so I bought the Canon instead.
The printer works beautifully. The only drawbacks with this model are that it has 6 ink tanks instead of 12 and you cannot customize paper settings automatically. This sounds worse than it is, though. You can still find a similar, preloaded paper style and just use that.
we bought this printer for our small business grapic arts business...we do reproductions of1800s artwork. I did a lot or research to find a printer that would be able to print our products in a professional way. This machine lives up to all of our expectations.
Top of the line printer OMG !!!!
I have an IPF 8300 that was $3074.00, started acting up June of 2014. Sent techs for over 30 hrs to fix. Had to buy $ 2000.00 worth of ink on my own. The machine dumped most of the ink into maint. carts, approx. 400ml each x 4 carts. About $1500 of ink in the trash.
I purchased this printer in February 2013 and was satisfied for the most part with the print quality. the user interface is a little strange and non-intuitive but you sort of get used to it. I purchased this particular printer because I am gone a lot and not printing for extended periods of time.
At last a great printer!
Update Oct 20, 2016 I replaced my Mac operating system with Sierra. I've spend hours today trying to print three prints. The first took perhaps five attempts, the second fifteen. It's taken about 2 hours to try to print the third. I called Canon Tech support.
Been a Canon user for quite some time (1991 - original Eos Elan 35mm film camera). Had been a user for 6 plus years running a Canon imagePROGRAF IPF5000. Made the jump to the 6400 a month ago - business is going in a larger format direction.
