I work as Breaking News Stringer and have used the XA-10, then the XA-30 which were all great cameras. I got my XF-405 yesterday, set it up and had my first night time story. This camera is amazing. 1st, while heavier than the XA-30, it just feels better while hand-holding.
Ugh where do i start :( I'll update this but as of now i'm on the fence to return it or not. It says XF400 but its nothing of the sort. It's an XA40 period. There is not a Canon exec. in the world that look someone in the eye and say otherwise.
The one I have been waiting for. I had been shooting with the XA30 for the last couple of years and wondered if Canon would ever produce a similar configuration with 4K. The wait is over. The switches and buttons are situated nicely and the touch screen menu is a big plus.
Although I don’t film myself, a good friend of mine does it for me and my business. This includes my webinars, podcasts, and video courses. Since he has a lot of experience filming me and others, I let him use this camera to record my material for several weeks. This review includes his feedback.
I purchased this to compliment my C200 and use it primarily in manual mode. The videos are clean and sharp and the camera is easy to use. The custom button next to the record button is too close and too small to make it effective for me.
Came with battery charged at about a quarter Connect either net or wifi The zoom in and out on the side moves faster then top of the handle. The one on the handle goes slower for a more dramatic effect. The handle does come off. It doesn’t use a typical full size HDMI cord.
First impressions are "fantastic camera!". Bought one of these to test, as I believe it will make a strong replacement for our current stable of cameras (Mainly XA25's & XF305's) . Were a sports videography company and live streaming has become a part of our mainstay.
Really enjoying this camera. Just a reminder, you will need high speed (90Mb/s) SD card to record 4K videos.
This is great the upgrade from our old Sonys is like day and night.
I've been a life long canon customer as you can see from my pic, this was the most money I spent on a single canon camera and was hoping for the best and since I had to return my last brand new Canon camera when the memory slot wouldn't work on arrival.
