The Canon MP-E 65mm Macro Lens is an extreme macro lens . And it is unlike any other Canon lens I have used to date. And I recommend that you read the manual for this lens - it will help you understand its uniqueness. Canon lists the focal length for this lens as 65mm.
Maybe you've been playing around with macro photography, either with a dedicated 1:2 or 1:1 prime macro, or with a zoom lens that close focuses to about 1:3 magnification. Maybe you've even experimented with extension tubes or magnification filters to get even more macro action through your...
Canon ima v svoji bogati paleti kar nekaj zelo specifiènih objektivov. Torej objektivov, ki so namenjeni posebni uporabi in niso uporabniško primerni za vse vrste fotografije.
Canon’s all-manual 65mm is a 1-5x prime. This means that the magnification is 5x that of any other lens in test . In reality it’s almost impossible to use handheld at its minimum focusing distance, as the depth-of-field is so incredibly shallow and, being so close to the subject, the lens obstructs...
I purchased this lens to see how it would stack up against my Canon 100mm macro. While this MP-E 65mm has some striking usefulness, it is nevertheless limited by its inability to focus to infinity. One focuses on the subject matter by moving the camera, not a focus ring.
I have used my MP-E 65mm nearly every day, for the past 3.5 years. While I have shot up to 3.5 X power, even a 1X power, it's better than any other macro made. The glass is "L' quality.
One of the very best macro-lenses, starts where other stop, 3:1 up to 5:1 onother world..... but you need some accessories like macroflash and a millimetric plate and a lot of patience.....

5:1, excellent imagequality, nice bokeh

-
from 3:1 very dificult to handle - you need macroflash and millimetric-plate
For the fanatic that wants to peer into the almost microscopic world of extreme macro, this is the best. For almost everyone this is extreme overkill.

Sharp, beautiful, extreme macro. Allows a vision into an invisible world.

Difficult to use. Makes taking pictures a real skill. Must have dedicated ring light flash.
When you like macro this lens is your dream. A first look and feel of the lens gives you the pleasuere thet the lens is extremely well build, metal body and it's perfectly finished of.

-build quality, -sharpness, -no other lens does wath this one does

-you need the ringlite or the twin lite flash
Because reviews on this site made it clear this was an advanced lens, I purchased the Canon EF 100mm 2.8L Macro. Two extension tubes later I finally broke down and purchased this lens.
I'm traditionally an architectural shooter and timelapse filmmaker. I current live in the middle east and the summer months make it impossible to shoot outside, so I wanted to try something equally as challenging - macro photography. I was not disappointed. Challenging is the key word here.
This lens is the reason almost all serious macro photographers shoot Canon.
I had a bit of fear using this lens the first time BUT I did not have any problems - just had to move the camera back and forth (used indoor on my kitchen table)(using a tripod or a large bag of beans is necessary to keep it completely steady)....Not a point and shoot!!!!!
