What We Love. The price is certainly right with the inexpensive Canon Rebel T7 DSLR. It has a solid build quality for such a low-priced camera, and its ergonomics are better than we expected.

  • +

Better than expected image quality Limited noise in images Realistic colors and excellent sharpness in the scene Includes a popup flash unit Good ergonomics Solid build quality Autofocus in videos responds well Button layout and size are good Position of the power switch is well-designed Reasonable...

Doesn't have a feature set that matches other entry-level DSLRs Limited speed in burst mode Not enough upgrades from its predecessor LCD screen has a 4:3 aspect ratio, while the image sensor's aspect ratio is 3:2 No tilt or touch features on the LCD screen No 4K video resolution option Maximum...

The Canon EOS Rebel T7i/800D is arguably the best ever Rebel. Its Dual Pixel autofocus allows it to offer similarly fast performance whether you shoot through the viewfinder or in live view mode, helping make it one of the most accessible DSLRs we've ever encountered.

  • +

Casual and beginner photographers looking for an easy-to-use and relatively easy-to-learn DSLR.

  • -

Enthusiast users, who will eventually hit the camera's limitations. Dedicated video shooters have better choices for the money.

The EOS 800D’s features offered little to complain about at the time of its launch, but they look weaker today, mainly because of its lack of 4K video. Otherwise, it’s responsive and versatile, and the image quality is good. Physically, it’s less impressive.

  • +

Impressive AF performance, Touchscreen well implemented, Great image quality

  • -

Build a little cheap-feeling, Only 95% viewfinder coverage, No 4K video

To cap it all, this camera comes with a lot of pros but a very few cons. If you are ready to look past the battery life, this lightweight and compact gadget will give you high contrast and quality shots in all kinds of atmosphere.

For a step up in photo quality or performance from a phone or compact, the Canon EOS Rebel T7i/800D remains a fan favorite.

  • +

The Canon EOS Rebel T7i/800D delivers reasonable photo and video quality and respectable performance in a time-tested body.

  • -

Relatively large compared to other cameras in its class and its photos aren't as sharp as competitors'.

The Canon EOS 800D is a worthy successor to the 750D that further improves on its strengths and weaknesses alike. It has a better sensor, a newer image processor, faster autofocus, and a longer battery life.

  • +

Lightweight body, Touchscreen display, Fast autofocus, Improved sensor + image processor, Cleaner images on high ISO, Decent details, Well-saturated, Wi-Fi and NFC on board

  • -

Toyish plastic build, Lack of 4K video recording

When Canon introduces a new flagship Rebel camera model, it is always the best ever. That has never been a question. But, the amount of "better" definitely varies with each new model. It was a challenge to recommend the T5i over the T4i when there was a substantial difference in price.

The camera is great for getting images. I use manual settings and I am pleased with what I get. I bought this camera specifically for the blue tooth function so I could transfer photos on the go. I can't get it to connect to my phone for image transfer.

Love this camera! Taking clear, beautiful photos of wildlife (deer, birds, squirrels), nature, soccer and family. I took one photography class many years ago and had forgotten most of the basics.

I've had Canon cameras since 1983 and have no complaints. Since the digital age has come, this is my first SLR with interchangeable lenses. I've been relying on pocket cameras. I must say a lot has changed from the old days of film, was used to changing shutter speed and aperture manually.

I just upgraded from a Canon rebel T6 to the Canon Rebel T7i, and I couldn't be happier. I'm a photography student at the local community college, so I've been trying different things with The T7i, Long exposures, Intentional movement exposures and others.

Hello DPREVIEWER, I wanted to give you a heads up on a video that I think might help you out on your decision to buy the 800D... if you are here for that. I went to Greece to test it out. This is my first DSLR, but I have made several videos before this on my phone. I shot when I had the time.

We wanted a DSLR for awhile and now we have one. We went out to shoot some fall colors in the mountains and the pictures look great. We are very happy with this DSLR and it has a ton of settings and features. I have 2 Canon film cameras that I love and this is our 3rd Canon.

I love my new camera. A lot of features are the same as my Rebel XT which helps, but many are different. I did not have video with the XT so I am having fun practicing with this feature. I'm still getting used to the swivel view. I still prefer using the regular view finder when taking a picturer.

Enjoying this camera and lenses. Great price. Tried a canon mirrorless first and camera body felt very lightweight and too breakable.Using the wireless connectivity between phone and camera via canon camera connect, you are to control camera and transfer photos.

I used it for the first time last week to photograph cliffs at Georgia O'Keefe's Ghost Ranch. Even using the automatic settings, the colors were crisp, clean, intense and all my photos turned out beautifully. I also took photos of our hiking friends and they turned out well...
