As there's no viewfinder the screen must be used for composing images. It provides a clear view with lots of detail in low light but as yet I haven't been able to use it in bright conditions or to see how it performs in direct sunlight.

  • +

Proven 18Mp APS-C format sensor, Well implemented touch control, Nice build and reasonably small

  • -

No viewfinder or option to use an external unit, No hotshoe for an external flash, Limited lens range

The Canon EOS M10 is the latest is the company’s attempt at competing in the mirrorless market. The M10 features an 18MP APS-C sensor and a very consumer-ish approach to the mirrorless camera. The EOS M10 does several things very well.

For competent photographers in need of a smaller camera that offers a certain amount of control similar to an SLR, Canon’s EOS M3 is a great option, however, for newcomers to photography the EOS M10 is ideal.

Canon’s new mirrorless camera may not offer a radical specification but it’s 18Mp sensor and user friendly controls are great for beginners wanting to gain some confidence. Find out our head of testing’s first impressions in her Canon EOS M10 hands-on-review.

This camera like many others of this category is useless in much of Australian light conditions because it lacks a viewfinderEthnocentric designers / manufactures in Jpn and elsewhere should make themselves aware of this and provide to Aus marked products that are suitable for local conditions
