The Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens delivers fast and accurate AF, very good image quality and image stabilization in a light, compact and moderately-priced package. This of course sounds great - and truth is, I really like this lens.
The widest of Canon’s recent barrage of wide-angle, full-frame prime lenses, this 24mm f/2.8 IS USM ($807, street)—along with the 28mm f/2.8, and new 35mm f/2—forms a three-tiered team, notable for compact proportions, reasonable pricing, and image stabilization across the board.
Handling and features This brand new wide angle prime lens from Canon sports a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture, an ultrasonic focus motor and image stabilisation. This lens is currently available for around £750. Is it really worth the expense?
Canon makes an innovative decision to include image stabilization in its wide-angle prime lenses; the lens performs well, better than the lens it is replacing, and the image stabilization will be welcomed by landscape shooters and videographers alike.
I am hardly a market research expert, I am just a humble tester from a small country which, in the global sale results of the Canon products is most probably situated somewhere close to the very end.

compact and solid casing,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, good image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor,, well-corrected chromatic aberration,, slight spherical aberration,, moderate distortion,, low coma on the APS-C sensor,, negligible astigmatism,, very good work against...

weak image quality on the edge of full frame and at the maximum relative aperture,, huge vignetting on full frame,, high coma level in the corners of the full frame detector,, modest standard accessory kit.
The Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM is yet another fabulous wide angle prime lens from Canon?s armoury of cutting-edge telephoto lenses. The lens boasts of a swift maximum aperture of f/2.8, a brilliant ultrasonic focus motor and impressive image stabilisation, thus proffering users terrific value for...
On paper, this lens has a lot going for it. It's sharp, well built and has image stabilisation to help tame blurring due to quivery hands. Given the reasonably modest maximum aperture, for a prime lens, the price seems quite steep (for purposes of comparison, Nikon's 24mm f/2.8D costs around £365).

Good build quality, Lightweight, Image Stabilisation, Excellent sharpness, Focuses close

Expensive, Susceptible to flare and no hood is supplied as standard, Falloff at maximum aperture
This is a great lens, period! I bought this lens specifically to be used on a Canon 7D, where it's equivalent size is 38mm. I have been using the 24mm lens for street photography as well as landscapes and it's a stellar performer in both areas.
From my own extensive research of the worldwide web, I fully expected this lens to be somewhat inferior to its 35mm f2 similarly image stabilised sibling, which in fairness would have been far easier to construct.

Fairly lightweight and compact; near silent, precise autofocus; attractive colours; extremely effective image stabilisation; low distortion

Lens hood is essential but not provided; adequate sharpness but not outstanding
I bought this lens to use in low light places such as bars for promotional work. This thing is so much better for me than my 50 1.4 or 18-55 and 55-250. It works. The low light capabilities combined with the wide angle have produced images better than I ever dreamed of straight out of the camera.
This review is for a crop sensor DSLR. This is a great lens that can be used as a general purpose lens. It's not as tight as a 50mm and acts closer to a 35mm lens because of the crop factor.

Great small prime for your canon camera! It works with crop and FF DSLRs. Great image quality and fast focus!
Whenever I travel a lot by foot, this is the lens that I use the most regardless of lighting condition. Aside from all the comments on sharpness and being light, its IS is simply superb. I've used it handheld at shutter speeds of 1/5 and the IS saves the day.
From the first photograph with this lens on my Canon 5DS R, I have been very satisfied with the quality of the photographs. Excellent prime lens.
Good lens I prefer a wider aperture for that price but decent lens
I use this lens on my c-100 attached to a ronin-m. The auto focus works good while moving around.
