Canon 52mm 500D Close-up Lens

I have used this lens attached to my Canon 100mm Macro lens and was able to get in really close. I look forward to using it more. I bought the largest size available (77mm) so I can use it on several different lenses by also purchasing the necessary step-up rings.

Amazing how this thing works screwed into the front of my 24-600 zoom! It wound up being a much easier photo process than I anticipated.

I have been using the 500D on a step-up ring with my Nikon 70-200mm f/4 for about 3 years now. While it is not the same as true macro, it has been very effective for my needs. It also works very well with the 300mm PF, so I always keep it on me.

The lens is probably not the best way to get a close-up... that would be a dedicated macro lens, but you can carry this in your pocket and put it on a standard 72mm lens to take quick close(er) up photos when walking around.

I am attempting to pare down some of my gear for those times when I need to board a plane. In lieu of packing the 105mm, I added this little gem to my quiver. Though it is a substantial piece of glass, it is much smaller and lighter than either of my close up lenses.

This lens was a great addition to my other Nikon lens. It gives me a lot of flexibility as I strive to be a well rounded Photographer.
