Might be pricey for some.
I use the Bose Compact with a string jazz/swing trio and quartet and it's fabulous. Bass and both guitars use amps and vocals and violin go through Bose. Sometimes we use condenser mics (Ear trumpets) and that works great. Have used with mixer and played bass though it was well.
Amazing sound coming out of such a small piece of equipment. Love the fast set up and break down. I just wish that the low sound was a little stronger but pound for pound a great buy.
We bought one of these for a (10x30) 300 square meter indoor space, for public addresses with audiences of 50-80. It sounds just fine, and I would recommend it for smaller venues.
I use it on small gigs. It's perfect for a small to medium size room and covers it perfectly. It's easy to carry and doesn't take up much space! My salesman, Eric, knew his stuff and got me in and out in a jif!
I have used many PA systems in my over 40 year career..The L1 is by far the and take down and move by far..The sound is superb and I highly recommend this for the singer/songwriter and touring coffee house and home concert musician. - Jerry J.Thomas
I use the Bose L1-Compact as the main audio for family conferences and training seminars. It does a superb job for speaking and preaching, movies and video, and a simple worship team (keyboard, guitar, and two mics). The simple setup is phenomenal.
I have a set of the BOSE compact system and use them for DJ'ing the smaller venues that need quality sound with the BOSE clarity/ it has terrific volume output along with the capability to hook up to my DJ controller.
I need 1 unit for Karaoke and for large dances I need 2 units. I love the convenience of the compact size and weight and the quality of the sound from Bose.
