Blackmagic's first camera has been imbued with some strong voodoo, but is it a hex or a blessing for videographers?
In order to keep this concise, I will simply list the pros and cons, and then you should be able to decide from there. Let's start with the PROs first. PROS Gives a very filmic or cinematic look Easy to balance on a Steadicam Global shutter, good for tracking action Records in high quality codecs,...
I'm not sure what the mediocre rating is about. I've had this camera for two years and I love it. You have to buy the right accessories to make it do what you want (video gear 101) but it gives beautiful image, it's reliable and it's still probably the best value out there for entry-level, pro...
This camera came very clearly used -- it was dirty, had no covering/support packaging other than the box, etc. It was very disappointing given the high sticker price. Returned it and bought one that actually came new.
The camera is great as all the advertising says. But be aware of other accesories that you have to buy.
There is no costumer support. PLEASE DO NOT reload the firmware. Internal batery is not good, and last just a few minutes before turning off. In the end, I have a very nice grey paperweight, with 2000 USD EF lens.
I'll keep this short. I've been shooting HDDSLR films for work for some time and recently decided to put in the time and effort to step up to a Black Magic Cinema Camera. I was excited by the test footage online comparing it to the Canon HDDSLRs out there and felt the price tag as justified by the...
The image quality of this camera is mind blowing, however, there are some limitations. The advertised remote control capability is misrepresented. Only functions such as start/stop, record and maybe focus actually work.
I Freaking Love this thing, however, make sure you test your SSD card over a dozen times by shooting 15 minutes plus before you take on paying gig! I had issues with 2 cards that were approved by Black Magic and have now since been removed from there list because of failure!!
Black Magic just lowered the price from $2995.00 to $1995.00 goto Black Magic website for the press release! Fremont, CA - August 2, 2013 - Blackmagic Design today announced a new lower price for the award winning Blackmagic Cinema Camera to US$1,995.
I am SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that Black Magic lowered the price $1,000. I literally just bought this a week and a half ago. Too bad I don't get any refunds or anything :P Otherwise great camera.
