Honestly I prefer Manfrotto monopods and tripods, but that doesn't mean I don't like this Benro monopod. For the price it makes a great video monopod for small light weight cameras such as a Canon T5i with no accessories. If I add accessories such as a camera light, mic, monitor, etc.
It's steady, works incredible with small sized DSLR.
I bought the A38TDS2 Series 3 Aluminum Monopod from Benro to help with my videography. The monopod is very well build. I like it for its portability and fast set up. The fluid head works well with my samsung NX1.
So far, this thing is great! I have used it for two different events( a wedding and a Quincenera) and it worked pretty well for both. Works very well on even ground, but on grass and other uneven platforms, it may not work as effectively as you would want.
I wanted a monopod that could act as a tripod and stumbled upon the Benro one. After reading great reviews I utterly placed my order on the A38TDS2 and to my surprised there is a 'flip' version model and thought of returning the 'twist' A38TDS2 but after the thought of spending more in shipping I...
Benro has designed a really nice monopod for smaller cameras - A38TDS2. It is well-engineered, very stable with the 3 flip down feet, lightweight (similar to carbon fiber) and looks good too. The S2 head provides smooth movement and is appropriately sized for DSLRs and small camcorders.
I've used this for video and stills and it works great for both. It's not the smallest monopod you can buy, but it is crazy sturdy and is a fraction of the size of a tripod that it can all but replace. This thing will stand on its own with my 7D mkii and a canon 70-200 f/2.8.
Perfect for video.
