The Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 is a great-sounding headphone with the one caveat that its sonic detail is so impressive that it brings out both the best and worst in any given source material.

  • +

The Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 offers impressive audio quality, is sturdily built, should fit most people comfortably, and comes with three cables, including one that has an inline remote/microphone for cell-phone use.

  • -

A little heavy; not quite as comfortable as some competing models'; abundance of clarity reveals harshness or distortion in recordings.

Audio-Technica's ATH-MSR7 SonicPro High-Resolution Over-Ear Headphones ($250) claim to produce "Hi-Res Audio, allowing users to hear music the way it was intended." The headphones pack 45mm "True Motion Drivers," lightweight voice coils, and a diaphragm...

With the redesigned ATH-MSR7b, Audio-Technica eliminates the aesthetic “flaws” of its predecessor. Above all, the sound image has been refreshed, making it the top model in its price class among all headphone disciplines.

“The MSR7’s potent mix of style, functionality, and performance makes these headphones solid contenders in one of the industry’s most competitive genres.”

Overall, I am very impressed with what the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 offers for its price. While $250 is not cheap, you could pay more and not get the build quality and performance of the ATH-MSR7.

I remember listening to the Audio Technica MSR7 when it first came out – three years ago. But the headphone game has changed dramatically since 2015, and now the new Audio Technica ATH-MSR7B sits on my desk, waiting for a review.

Audio Technica has genuinely knocked it out of the park with their latest portable, circumaural, closed-back dynamic headphone. The ATH-MSR7 is a stylish and comfortable design with solid build quality and a refined sound approaching that of higher-end reference quality open-back monitors, and all...

I have been a fan of Audio Technica headphones for years now. I always appreciated their level of aesthetic detail, especially for the price. However, the Audio Technica ATH-SR9 takes a step up in price and I’m curious. Is it worth the extra $200?

With a new-and-improved version already announced and arriving on store shelves any day now, the original Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 may be looking a little dated. But thanks to some stellar performance, this $249 headphone’s popularity is still holding strong.

Just a little background before I start with the HP review... I'm essentially an amateur musician (electric guitarist by choice, keyboardist by default role) and have been playing from small-medium sized venues.

  • +

Excellent detail, clarity, imaging and good soundstage, Great near-reference-quality sound, but with a bit more bass presence and softened treble., Super sensitive for your portable player., Terrific for classical music enthusiasts.

  • -

I feel the bass is a bit lacking in presence or forwardness, Build quality.

These headphones are comfortable and look very nice. if you are looking for headphones for playing video games or if you like listening to soft or medium volume music they might be for you. if you are an audiophile who likes heavy metal-hard rock at loud volumes then they probably aren't for you.

I use these in my office with a dragonfly red, and they sound fabulous. Very light weight and good stability on the head, still comfortable after hours of use and no pressure on the ears or skull.

Not only do they look great but they feel and sound great too! I haven't used this in public but mostly with my PC back home. I tend to nitpick details on every product before/after making my final purchase, like these headphones tend to make squeaky noises when moving them around but the problem...

It might seem a lot of money, yet these ATH-MSR7 are well worth it. I tried the Audio Technica ATH-M50x and the ATH-M70x models, they are good, this one is much smoother and an elegant design. They are quite cushy and a little tighter on the head than some.

Great sound. Sweet spot in terms of price versus quality. Only gripe is accessories are pretty non- existing and carrying POUCH is just that, a flimsy pouch! But your paying for the phones themselves so your money is well spent.

  • +

Great sound for the price. Has balanced connecters if that's your thing. I go unbalanced.

  • -

Lack of accessories and flimsy carrying pouch.

Great sounding, wish for a bit deeper ear cushions. They fit around my ears just brush the inside. Clarity and coloration are just right for an old rocker like me.

I love the way these sounds. Balances the lows mids and highs just right. My only issue is the cord. The cord is super flimsy and feels like it will short easily. Treat it like glass and these things will continue to sound amazin.

I call these headphones, "The Truth"! They are very precise and detailed! These are the best headphones I've ever owned for critical listening! Very Nice!

Really crisp and clear even though they are only partially burned in. Great across the frequency spectrum and very comfortable. I just wish the cable was a bit longer. And now I need to get an amp with a balanced output. It sounds good with the standard connection but I NEED now to try it balanced!
