This is my third Audeze product review to date, and all three belong to different product segments. The LCD-2 Classic (2021) is from the company's LCD Origins series that has a warmer sound signature to begin with, which the LCD-2 Classic then bumps up a notch.

Exceptionally efficient planar magnetic driver system, Scales well with amplifiers despite not really needing one, Quite analytical and accurate tuning for studio-monitoring work, Incredible scaling with EQ; there is no perceived degradation, within reason, Extremely wide and open soundstage even...

Upper mids a weakness for studio monitoring but also some music genres, Quite expensive relative to other monitoring headphones, The treble range is hit or miss with some fundamentals and harmonics clashing, High initial clamping force and the heavy mass may cause discomfort over time, Ear pads are...
Every now and then, a headphone comes along that truly advances the state of the art. Audeze LCD-XC is a game changer!

It’s crazy expensive! They’re heavy!
Audeze unveils their latest models with the LCD-X and the LCD-XC, both part of their Creator Edition series.
The landscape is bleak when it comes to high-end close-back headphones. But there’s a ray of hope, and it’s the Audeze LCD-XC – a thick-padded, wood-shielded, detailed-sounding beast-of-a-headphone. Of course, hope don’t come cheap: the XC is priced at $1799.
I am a mixing and mastering engineer living in NYC, I recently moved to a new apartment where there is outside noise or noise from my Roomate. I am unable to blast my studio monitors and didn't want to do super complex acoustic treatment in the apartment. For these reasons closed back was ideal.
These are well built beautiful headphones. A little on the heavy side and of course they are closed cans but tracking and even general listening they have rich punchy lows and quick an open sound stage compared to others I own or have tried. They are also quite comfortable.
THE GOOD: Absolutely incredible. The build quality is truly superb. These headphones are built to last. Their sound is buttery smooth. Incredible low-end and sub bass. The imaging is fantastic. Treble has sparkle but without semblance. The mids are recessed but by no means lacking.
The Audeze LCD-XC is an outstanding headphone that excels everywhere. It has incredible resolution, separation, and timbre. It has a neutral tuning with a lot of dynamics. It will not give you tons of bass unless the music calls for it, but the bass it has is deeply extended and tightly controlled.
Outstanding sound. Awesome headphone. Probably the best closed headphone ine the world. Top quality, top sound. Work perfectly with a simple smartphone or computer but it's so better with a good headphone amp (nuprime dac-10h for me and it's perfect)
I’m a long-time sound-seeker in the world of headphones. Still own my HD 600, HD 800, and initial run of hi fiman’s HE 500 planar magnetics. I have listened to my AUdeze LC-X for a couple of years and tinkered with EQ and numerous amp/pre combinations.
Very good headphone. The 2021 version is an improvement over the previous version which was very good in its own right but the new version is lighter, has a better frequency response and a definitely better sound stage. Overall one of the best headphones I own so it pains me to return them....
Fantastic to say the least. Paired with Astell&Kern SA700 w/balanced cable (purchased separately). I'm consistently amazed at the details and clarity and flat out "I've never heard this detail in this music before" that I am discovering. Build quality is extremely good.
Everything I wanted
After looking at the LCD-XC for a long time, I finally pulled the trigger...and I'm never looking back. I lean heavily toward closed headphones for practical reasons, and most of what I saw and read pointed to these being at least representative of best in class.
