FOLDED RIBBON TECHNOLOGY DELIVERS ACCURATE, NONFATIGUING SOUND
The Adam A7 was the second little brother (only surpassed by a 5 inch smaller one) in the adam monitor family. It has a bass exhaust port in the front, a (you guessed it) 7-inch speaker cone and the ART tweeter that is the trademark of Adam Monitors.
Technical Characteristics: see other comments Usage: home studio with sound card Audiofire echo 2 Nearfield amply sufficient for a room of 20m2
What characteristics have motivated your choice? Especially the reputation of ADAM .... For what purpose?
Adam speakers do sound like an accurate & details speaker. Quote that word "sound like" which means they are not in fact. They give a lot of preference focus, but that doesn't mean they translate honestly. (especially on low end). A7 provides a lot of features but it didn't QC well enough.
I've owned a pair of these for a couple of years now and here's my take: -The high end is very crisp and detailed due to the ribbon tweeters. -They are well made (as are most electronics manufactured in Germany). -Decent for monitoring mids.
I worked for years with A7. I had to work very hard to clean 150hz-600hz in order to get mixes that soud ok in most places. I though it was just hard to get. Then I tried other boxes: focal an K+H... Huge revelation to me. Now it takes me half of the time to get much better mixes.
I had a pair for 5 years. Bottom line, they are great if you are on a tight budget. I personally like the ribbon tweeter (very efficient) and thought they were great in the highs. The lows are a bit anemic, but usable. My biggest issue was the midrange blur on these.
Construction : On this monitors you can find the german high quality..With 6.5" woofer and ART ribbon tweeter you will get 46khz to 35 khz freq range.. Sound : great sound with excellent stereo image , on the mid low you can find that they have a hole sometimes and the high freq are a little bit...
Adam Audio A7's Overview Question: What are they? Answer: The A7's are active two way front port nearfield monitors. German engineered, China assembled, thus the affordable price. The speakers are 6.5“ Rohacell/carbon fiber woofer and a ART (35kHz) ribbon tweeter, both powered by two 50 W amplifiers...
Let me start by acknowledging that there is a bit of subjectivity and variables in rating monitors. However, my conclusions seemed to be much different than expected, thus, I feel this is worth making into a review. These monitors are amazing for what I paid!
