Packing a GTX 1060 graphics card, the Acer Predator 15 (G9-593-72VT) delivers solid gaming performance along with decent battery life for a relatively modest price.
Fine gaming performance. Good battery life. Supports Nvidia's G-Sync technology.
Heavy and bulky. Underwhelming keyboard backlighting.
Pascal upgrade. Acer now uses the latest Pascal GPUs from Nvidia for the current Predator 15. We also get some additional features that were missing with the previous models. The design of the bulky 15-inch gaming notebook is still a matter of taste though.
optical drive or additional fan, high performance, 8 GB VRAM, good IPS display with G-Sync, modern ports, always convenient temperatures, decent input devices with illumination and macro keys, handy tools, VR-ready
limited maintenance, slight GPU throttling extreme situations, bulky and heavy case, mediocre battery runtimes, sound could be better (hardly any bass), questionable design elements, long charging time
2016 was a great year for gaming laptops. Performance went up, prices went down, and the Acer Predator 15 is no exception. Featuring an Intel Core i7-6600HQ quad-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz, 16GB of RAM, and perhaps most importantly, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with 6GB of RAM,...
Pretty much everything we didn’t mention in the last few paragraphs is a positive on the Predator 15. Our review unit is $1,699 as equipped, the base model in the United States as of this writing.
Excellent gaming performance, Beautiful G-Sync display, Rockin’ speaker setup, Great RGB keyboard and touch pad, Runs cool and quiet, Built-in overclocking, Dedicated gaming macro keys
Thicker and heavier than some competitors, Long battery life, but shorter than the outgoing model, SSD is SATA, not PCI Express
The Acer Predator 15 ($1,699) is a midrange rig that serves up solid graphics and overall performance with a pretty display and a crazy-comfortable keyboard. My favorite thing about the VR-ready system is how cool it runs no matter the task.
The Acer Predator 15 one of the fastest gaming laptops we've tested, and wisely adds extra cooling to handle high-end parts in a smaller 15-inch body.
A rare 15-inch gaming laptop with top-end Nvidia 980M graphics, and the extra cooling required to run high-end parts in a smaller body. Battery life is excellent for a gaming laptop.
Despite a few nice design touches, this is still a gaudy-looking gaming laptop. All those fans can get loud when running at maximum speed.
In the last issue, we reviewed the Acer Predator XB1 monitor that debuted in IFA 2015. A monitor with that kind of spec is best paired with hardware that matches it, hardware like the Acer Predator 15. Unlike many other notebooks, the Predator 15 has a plastic matte body instead of a metallic one.
Performance, Unique cooling module
Our friends at Acer recently sent a new Predator our way. No, we’re not talking about a drone. But their new monster gaming laptop could easily be as lethal as one. Our black sheathed beauty radiated with the red glow of it’s illuminated keyboard.
The Acer Predator 15 (model reviewed here) retails at RM 8,999 – it’s a great gaming notebook with powerful specs that bests many desktop systems but it’s heavy, not just in weight but in price as well.
I bought this to replace my MSI GE60 laptop, as it had kicked the bucket. With a 980M, this laptop is a gaming beast. It's a bit on the bulky side, which I knew going in to this purchase. It will not fit in most laptop backpacks, even 17 inch ones.
- Beautiful IPS Display - Excellent gaming performance. Fallout 4 runs on ultra near 60fps - Easy access for the HDD and SSD, with a simple removable panel on the underside - M.2 SSD, with an additional slot for an NVMe ssd - No bloatware - Excellent cooling
- Very large. It rivals the average 17 in laptop in size - Speaker sound quality isn't as good as it could be - Two of the four ram slots are not easily accessible, as you have to disassemble the laptop to access the ones where the memory has been installed
I spent a few weeks researching which to get and I ended up buying this computer thinking it was a good deal for what appeared to be a great mobile gaming rig and to be up front and honest it's okay and decent but left me disappointed and feeling wrong as ever and that maybe I should've gone with a...
absolutely nothing as its hot!!
