Recently upgraded Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard to macOS 10.14 (Mojave). My G-SPEED eS Pro came with a RocketRaid 4320 card.RocketRaid no longer supports the 4320, much less provides drivers for macOS 10.14.Therefore, needed to upgrade the SAS RAID adapter.
Works perfectly on our 2010 Mac Pro tower. Download driver from ATTO website and thats it.
Mac OSX Yosemite didn't support our ExpressSAS r380. ATTO advised to replace with the R680. It works fine with all of our applications.
Thunderbolt support was key. Have a R800 Fusion RAID and our R380 cards were a little unreliable so jumped up to the R680, works like it should. Back to editing.
Easy, quick setup. Connected solidly to G-Tech RAID. No-brainer with setup/software. Discovered overheating problem when rendering 45 minute movie. It would terminate connection. Swapped card slots for better air flow over heat sink and it worked as it should.
We needed to upgrade our 2009 (5.1) 12 core 2.93GHz Mac Pro to support some new 4K client projects. We had previously been using a Sonnet eSATA 3G external storage solution, which while dependable, did not provide enough data I/O bandwidth to support 4K.
Installed this card quickly and easily. The card is fast and easy to use.
I am using this card on my Sonnett raid system and it working great.
I use this in a mac pro for Codex download stations and also with a fanout cable to esata devices. Works great. Mounts RED media via red readers faster than any other host card I've used.
The Bad: Had to install this on an intel Mac Pro with Lion. The drivers it came with not only didn't work but froze the Mac and had the fans running so hard that I was worried the Mac would literally take off! Uninstalled drivers and card but the fan STILL wouldn't shut off.
