With the Zenbook 3 Deluxe, Asus aims to beat Apple at its own game, and it comes perilously close to doing so. The Zenbook is every bit as stylish and high-quality as the iconic MacBook Pro, but is it more than just a copycat?

Stylish design, Light for its size, Excellent display, Solid performance, Dongles come included
-
-
Modest battery life, Screen is only 1080p, You pay for what you get
Asus slips a big screen into the thin body of the ZenBook 3 Deluxe, but the battery isn’t as upscale as the design.
-
+
The Asus ZenBook 3 Deluxe is very slim and stylish. It fits a 14-inch screen into a compact body and includes a fingerprint reader. Performance is excellent.
-
-
Battery life is short. Ports are limited. There’s only a standard HD screen option.
Everything comes at a price. If you want super thin, you will have to waive ports – but not performance! After the throttling issues of the HP Spectre 13, the world’s thinnest notebook, Asus can pull it off: Performance like a big system, but as thin as a fanless tablet.

+
very light and thin, compact dimensions, one-day runtime, sturdy but not completely torsion-resistant, performance without throttling, firm key stroke, ClickPad enables fast workflow, clear microphone recordings, reliable login via fingerprint, balanced sound (medium & high tones), Mini-dock in the...

-
not many ports, unusable webcam, shallow key travel, limited feedback, weak ClickPad feedback, speakers without bass
Although it's one of the thinnest and lightest laptops we've seen, the slick Asus ZenBook 3 still manages to deliver outstanding battery life and performance with its Intel "Kaby Lake" Core i7 processor.
-
+
One of the thinnest laptops on the market. Excellent performance and battery life. Strong speakers. Fingerprint reader. Windows 10 Pro.
-
-
Single integrated USB-C port. Internal fans run often. Display is limited to full HD panel. No Thunderbolt 3 support. Slippery touchpad.
The $1,699 MSRP of the ZenBook 3 Deluxe does get you just about the best of everything else possible in a machine of its weight and profile. Its screen, keyboard, and touch pad were all first-rate, as was its quad-speaker setup.
-
+
Beautifully slim design, Excellent build quality, Colorful 1080p display, Good keyboard and touch pad, Snappy-sounding speakers
-
-
10 hours of battery doesn’t match competition, Input/output limited to USB Type-C, Webcam needs an upgrade, No touch screen, Can get toasty under load
’ new 14-inch Deluxe UX490UA is a solid ultrabook option, but it’s only that. It’s got great style with an ultra-thin design, low weight, and an excellent brushed aluminum body. The extra two USB-C ports alleviates one of the major headaches of its 12.5-inch cousin, the UX390.
The Zenbook 3 UX390UA is rather unique among ultraportables, as a sleek and ultra-compact laptop with Core U hardware, fast storage, lots of RAM and plenty of other solid traits.

+
slim, compact and light; excellent build quality; surprisingly good keyboard; solid specs and overall good performance; doesn't get as hot as I was expecting; potent speakers; solid performing wireless; the battery life is decent, considering the actual size of the battery
-
-
the fan is active all the time; the display is too dim for the premium niche and glossy, despite not being a touchscreen; limited IO, but an adapter is included; pricey
Laptop manufacturers are still striving for the thinnest and lightest products they can develop. Apple has been the leader in this market for some time, producing high quality designs like the MacBook, but over the past year we’ve seen PC manufacturers join the party in a significant way.
-
+
Excellent thin and light metal build. Packs all the performance of a full-power 'Kaby Lake' processor. More affordable than the MacBook for better hardware.
-
-
Only one USB-C port is bad. Average battery life and keyboard.
The ASUS ZenBook 3 (UX390UA-DH51-GR) is one of the lightest and lightest ultraportable we’ve seen in the market. Still, it manages to deliver class-leading performance and longer battery life thanks to its Intel “Kaby Lake” Core i5 processor.

One of the thinnest laptops on the market. Excellent performance and battery life. Strong speakers. Fingerprint reader.

Single integrated USB-C port. Internal fans run often. Display is limited to full HD panel. No Thunderbolt 3 support. Slippery touchpad.
Battery life was about average with the UX390UA, but with a 15W processor there is nothing to really complain about here. We use a 180 lux screen brightness (71% on this screen) for this test, and if you use a lower brightness setting (I am generally at 120 lux) then it should last much longer than...
I just got this laptop yesterday. I got the upgraded Blue model with the i7-Kaby Lake chip, 16 gigs of Ram and the 512 Gig SSD. I also have the newest version of the MacBook.

Light, beautiful, incredibly fast

Trackpad takes a bit of getitng used to
- the single USB-Type C connector takes some getting used to but I don't really use a mouse nor do I really need to connect things other than memory device.
-
+
- Very sleek, happy with the form factor, really wanted a small laptop
-
-
- The battery life when using chrome is about 2.5hrs which is utterly useless for being a portable laptop, you might get an extra 45min using edge but since I'm not setup with edge nor do I really want to migrate Search Engines it's not even worth it.
After one week of non-stop use: Build quality is excellent. All the hardware performs as expected, which is top notch. Screen is good. Weight is practically non-existent. You're paying a premium for the form factor and build quality but you get what you pay for.
-
+
Overall preformance for light-moderate programming, database and VM tasks is fantastic.

Fingerprint magnet., Power button location at the top right of the keyboard., 1 usb-c port
I love the size and lightness. I travel greatly and this is much more portable than any laptop or tablet I have owned. I purchased this to replace a Surface Pro 3 which died after 2 years. This is meets my work needs better than the surface. With the chipset and memory it is very quick and nimble.
It's thinnest and lightest most powerful laptop that is true traditional laptop with the needed power. One port for USB-C is a hard to get used to, BUT its small form factor and sleek design over come the one port issue. I have always only had high-end laptops and this one is great.
