ASUS MX299Q Ultra-Wide Cinematic Monitor (29", Silver and Black)

Had this a few eyars now and its still going strong. It does fail to receive signal on DisplayPort at times. Other than that its been a trooper and is still beautiful.

Cons 1. Base isn't intuitive. Put the base on per instructions, it was tilted 20° forward. Putting into correct tilt felt like it would break it... it didn't 2. Speakers... didn't expect much... they didn't deliver much... 3. Menus aren't easy to navigate... dl the guide.. wo it, good luck.

First off, I use this monitor on a daily basis with my personal setup. It is paired with a 4790k/GTX 970 so gaming performance is subjective. As a gaming monitor, I find this to be the sweet spot. This allows you to have the real estate of multiple monitors without the bezels in the middle.

I didn't even have to do any calibration straight out of the box, and I'm an imaging professional! Though this is a consumer level monitor and doesn't match my pro-grade sets, it's still a brilliant display.

Looks nice but is not compatible with Mac. Talked to Asus on the phonee and they told me of this issue. On Mac with latest OSX this monitor cannot display in highest resolution modes. If you own a PC looks like a great monitor.

This monitor takes an eternity to change mode. So much so that my computer can boot up before the monitor, which can throw my display settings off and I sometimes have to reconfigure the desktop (by enabling the monitor - this is a multi-monitor set-up by the way).

One would struggle to develop a worse set of controls for a monitor. The buttons have next to no tactile feel at all. Sitting at the recommended height relative to the monitor you won't see the buttons. But that's OK right? The buttons have labels! Yea: Light grey labels on a grey background.

The ultra-widescreen look isn't for everyone. Some people prefer a standard multi-monitor setup. But I personally love this monitor. The image is really crisp, monitor is nice and solid. Still using it and continuing to be really happy with it.
