Imagine the XPS 15 9560 stripped down to ULV configuration levels at half the starting price and you get the new VivoBook S15 S510 series. While this sounds good on paper, chassis quality leaves a lot to be desired.
2x internal storage bays, upgradeable RAM, maximum CPU Turbo Boost performance, relatively easy serviceability, thin and very lightweight, attractive chassis design, decent stereo speakers, USB Type-C Gen. 1, low fan noise, no PWM
weak key feedback; disappointing trackpad, unusual surface temperature development, below average battery life, no Thunderbolt 3 or mDP, flexible plastic base, slow SD reader
Purchased as a gift for a replacement laptop. Great as a laptop, good as a Hybrid but awesome as a tablet! Good for streaming movies and a great touch screen.
Hard drive died within a few days. Not sure that can be blamed on Asus but was rather inconvenient. I had just finished loading my software and loading personal information when the computer began freezing, finally failing to boot. Running check disk set a number of bad sectors so back it went.
My son bought this with his bday money and looooves it!
For the price, an excellent deal! Especially if you throw in a SSD to use as your main drive! Would absolutely recommend.
Good value for the price. Light, functional, easy set up.
Right out of the box it started up quickly. Screen was clear and crisp. Light weight, for it's size, and easy to use.
Wish it had an SSD rather than an HDD. Beyond that, it's a very nice little PC, perfect for use to serve media to my TV and allow living-room web surfing.
I wanted a SMALL, powerful computer, and this fit the bill perfectly. On arrival, we changed the hard drive to SSD, and loaded software. From off to desktop in under 8 seconds. Runs dual monitors with no problem.
After about two weeks, "The system cannot find any bootable drive." It was good while it lasted but I'm sending it back without even trying to troubleshoot. I have owned it for a day, well almost and I do like it a lot.
Just purchased. Great little box, very lightweight. Set-up easy. Fast processor. Will upgrade RAM this weekend likely, but not even needed. First time with ASUS as well. Would recommend.
