Yamaha's RX-V475 is a great-sounding 5.1 receiver and a good value, although competitors offer better features and design.

The Yamaha RX-V475 offered the best sound quality in our subjective AV receiver listening tests. Its feature set is also decent for the price, with five HDMI inputs (including an MHL-compatible input), built-in AirPlay, and basic networking functionality via its Ethernet port.

Some similarly priced receivers offer six HDMI inputs. The RX-V475 also has some confusing design choices, including an indecipherable remote and poorly laid out back panel. And the RX-V475's bulky design is hard to overlook when Marantz's NR1403 is nearly half the size.
Even what is considered to be a "lower end" receiver today will likely have more features than you want or need. This Yamaha offering is no exception. I picked this up locally when it was on sale and saved a few bucks.

+ Price!, + YPAO at this price level, + Great, clean sound, + Enough ports and connections for any average HT setup, + 3D and 4K video Support, + HDMI CEC, + ARC, + Simple, but with the additional features and capabilities if you need/want them

- No Bluetooth, - The use of the "Scenes" can be a little confusing when also using raw inputs without the scenes
I bought this receiver to replace a tired old Sony in my TV room. It was not intended to be a home theater receiver as I already have one of those downstairs. This one seemed to have all the features I needed at a good price. This receiver far surpassed my expectations.

YPAO to set the speaker parameters for your speakers. 4 digital inputs. 4 HDMI imputs. Multiple scene settings. Great value.
