So to sum up, if you are looking for a binocular with very high quality optics that translates to an extremely good view, but don't fancy spending the mega sums of money that the "top end" brand names sell for, then I highly recommend the Vortex 8x42 Viper HD Binoculars.

I upgraded from my 20-year old binoculars, also 8x42, and what a difference! Colors just pop, and the image is super sharp, even in poor lighting. One thing I didn't like, though it did not affect my rating, is the case. The snap closure on it is so stiff that I can't open it.
