There’s no doubt that the No product information for canon_135 is one of Canon’s best lenses. It’s ideal for portraits and work in low light when you need the reach of a telephoto lens.

Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM is a very solid lens with outstanding overall performance on both APS-C and full-frame cameras. Some vignetting with a full-frame body at wide open apertures and occasional purple fringing are things to be aware of here.

A lens of this nature is a reasonably specialised piece of kit. It’s speed, both light gathering and focussing, make it ideal for indoor sport and event work. It also scores highly if you want portraits with OOF backgrounds where the focal length is near perfect.

It is very sharp , it is very fast , it is very well built and it is one of the least expensive L lenses Canon makes. It is the highly regarded Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM Lens. If 135mm is the focal length you need, you will not be disappointed by the 135 L.

Despite its age, this classic lens still manages to hold its own against more modern competition, thanks to fantastic optical quality and build. Being priced at around £860, it's not overly expensive either and is a particularly good value way to add one of Canon's best performing lenses to your...

As of today (3 October 2001) there are 7 Readers’ opinions in our concerning the tested lens. All of users gave the Canon top notes in every possible category - we rarely see such unanimity. It would be also difficult not to agree with our Readers about that.

  • +

high build quality,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, very good image quality on the edge of the frame,, chromatic aberration amounting to zero,, imperceptible distortion,, splendidly corrected coma,, negligible astigmatism,, low vignetting on the APS-C sensor,, fast, accurate and...

resolution on the edge of full frame at the maximum relative aperture a bit below decency level,, huge vignetting on full frame by f/2.0,, work against bright light could have been better.

The Canon EF 135mm f/2 USM L is a highly desirable lens with excellent performance figures in most aspects. It is very sharp and contrasty straight from f/2 and it's outstanding at f/5.6.

A telephoto lens, which sports a fast maximum aperture of f/2 and silent focusing with full-time manual focus override and costs around £860. In this review we'll take a close look at how it performs.

I had not given this 135mm F2 any consideration until recently. I stumbled upon many stellar reviews and I thought it would be a good lightweight alternative (although somewhat more limiting) than the 70-200 2.8 IS.I've just had this a few weeks shooting it with my Canon 6D.

SIx months on from buying it this has become my favourite lens ever, beating my previous favourite (Leica's 4th version of the 35mm Summicron for its M-series rangefinders). I use it for everything, landscapes, townscapes, interesting detail, portraits.

  • +

Wonderful image quality, lots of detail, contrasty, subject separation, fast and accurate AF, bright viewfinder, solid construction, unobtrusive in use, ...

  • -

No weather sealing, makes all my other lenses look poor (even the 'L' zooms that, when I first got them, imagined could hardly be improved on).

IF I could only bring one lens with me on a daily basis, this would be that one lens! I cannot say enough about this lens, you will not be disappointed with your purchase and the beautiful photographs and portraits you will capture. Watch on You Tube Canon 135 Lord of the Red Rings

Fast, light and sharp as heck. I love using this lens to cover the beam routines in gymnastics. the f2 vs f2.8 lets you drop a whole ISO stop cleaner, makes a HUGE difference in the quality of your pictures. The bokeh on a FF lens is so wonderful, it should be illegal.

Sharp sharp sharp, incredible bokeh, great value

135 mm is not my most used prime. But every time I use this lens I am very happy :)

Maybe one of the best lenses Canon makes. Sharp, fast, very good build. Overall IQ out of this world.

Vignetting to much at F2.0 when use on FF.

I bought this lens for indoor dog sports with pretty poor lighting. My EF70-200 IS 2.8L zoom was just not fast enough and I was getting too much noise at the higher ISOs with my 40D. Upgraded to the 5D2 and with this lens I can use ISO 3200 without much noise at all.

I love prime lenses, and this lens has a reputation for being among the sharpest in Canon's arsenal and exceeds expectations. On a full frame body it is a great focal length for candid portraits. On a 1.6x crop body it makes an outstanding telephoto (216mm FOV equivalent).
